Warm Welcomeby KernilCrash
I said my thanks to several people back at ‘Woggles’, so please don’t think I lack any gratitude for being included in this project. I am very pleased that my writing is considered worthy of be included in such stellar company. And thank you all for reading.
When imloco2 approached me about writing a story for the series, I had several other projects underway, but was suffering from the same ‘post-3.22 I’m befuddled’ trauma that she was experiencing. I was delighted to wade into something that wouldn’t leave us all wondering where it was going. I told her I would probably just pop off a ficletini … and that caused a lot of laughter on both sides of the e-mail. I’m not sure I’ve ever written even an e-mail under 100 words.
I’ve always been enchanted by the relationship between Ennixx and Aeryn in The Locket. Somehow hearing Aeryn referred to as ‘Nana’ kept nudging at my imagination. I kept wondering what it would have been like for Ennixx to grow up loving this still-disciplined former soldier, and what effect that love and dependency would have had on Aeryn. So I thought … let’s do Aeryn’s first impression of Ennixx.
Yee gods! What a dumb idea. LOL.
The Crashster is the original “don’t want kids, never wanted kids, never had kids, never will have kids” person … one niece, one nephew who likes Spaghetti-O‘s … perfect ratio. I had to tap several coworkers and friends to find out what most intrigued or pleased them about becoming a grandparent. It resulted in some truly enjoyable conversations.
This is the wonderful thing about writing … discovering the special moments in life that you never would have found on your own. You can read about them, but when you find the route to putting them on paper, the emotions have a way of becoming part of your soul.
