January 31, 2002:
In a few hours it will officially be, February 2002! Pop the corks and launch the multicolored metallic confetti! Whew.
Well, the BBQ has a helluvalot of reading to do, mainly due to all those procrastinating authors who are just now submitting their stuff for the 2002 FanFic Awards. Resultingly the BBQ absolutely refuses to do any websurfing to locate any tasty fic which might be laying out in the sun (somewhere there must be sun). Meanwhile, the fic Ally would like to see get crowned over at the SACC Short Attention Span Awards is gettin' just a tiny bit trounced. Ally wishes that ya'll would go over there and vote for our pic! Check out the poll, it's a hotly contested race, and those SACC folks won't let us vote more than once! hehe. View the POLL RESULTS of the voting. We know there are more than 50 of you out there! Just for fun, we are taking speculations at johnskeedvabbq@thevortex.com as to the BBQ's fave in this contest. We are expecting at least 10 emails.
All this, and no fic to recc. Arg! On the bright side, by Monday you'll all have to read a dren load of fic when the 2002 Fan Fic Awards opens for voting. Ally can spell. Really.
No "new" authors in at least a month. Come on. We know you wanna!
Later, Fic Starved Farscape Fans.
January 30, 2002:
Day 8, S-I.E.: Had time today to read huzzlewhat's, Damage Control. Gotta say, definately some bloodthirsty impulses there. hehe. Loved it. Also throughly enjoyed the latest installment of BetanSurvey's, Golden Apples - had a weird incidence of ROFLMAO that made me happy I don't have coworkers nearby. This is a rockin' fic, anyone not reading Golden Apples has some catchin' up to do, 'cause this is one highly entertaining read. KernilCrash makes us happy with Part 2 of the outstanding Voices of Reason. All this combined with orchid's, Home, Again, make for absolute must reads! All links provided below.
Okay, uh apparently the board is acting up, and the vortex addy is still frelled, though I'm thinkin' of it more as an ISP problem, what with the 10 year cold weather snap in California. Thanks to aeryncrichton for links to huzzlewhat's fic and Crash's ficlettttttttini, Idle Pursuits. Thanks again to all the little helpers. I wish I could email you!

ARG! The Kernil goes for another Challenge. You KNOW I can't keep up with these! See the Challenge Lists fer the skinny.
New Challenge: FARCe Challenge, by Kernil Crash
Okay, 'splain to me how it is that when Episode 3:19 to 3:22 finally air in the US, it'll take four entire weeks to get though them, and apparently in the UK it's only takin' a week? Am I insane?? Is there room for the BBQ in England? *whimper*
January 29, 2002:
Day 7, S-I.E.: Updates at Redbeards, KernilCrash submitted YETI, and OneEyedDRD submitted "NO ONE LEFT BEHIND". Go, read, vote. Show the love.
Smutty addition to HOME, AGAIN - by orchidcactus, over at Orchid's Archive. Adults only. Real adults that is.
First, the vortex email is frelled, can only read your emails, and just barely at that. I'll be sending voluminous thanks when it fixes itself. Til then, guys. Thanks!
News from BetanSurvey on four lovely bites. Thanks, B:
Continuing: GOLDEN APPLES - Part 8, by BetanSurvey. Sorry B, had the wrong link there for a bit.
Continuing: VOICES OF REASON - Part 2, by Kernil Crash. Also available at fanfic.net.
Continuing: INFILTRATOR - Part 3, by AncientJack
Some thoughtful suggestions from Loren, that I'll have to taste fully before I recc 'em. Thanks, Loren! Loren also passed along links Golden Apples, Voices, and Infiltrator (which Loren thinks rocks!). Loren's a voracious reader, dedicated to Chiana. More Chi fic for Loren! ;)
For those wondering, the chat thing has kinda fallen flat, what with no new eps to discuss. Even the BBQ is less than enthused. We'll probably go for it again on Sundays or something, after the new eps start to air so we have plenty of time to digest the ep beforehand.
Oooh! Meet the BBQ hits the archives over at Farscapeweb.com, in favor of reading up on a 'scaper of a different color. Check out the skinny on the big number, 30D954A, in an interview with the Featured Farscape Fan at Farscapeweb.com.
Anyway, BBQJr and Kitchi are out on the road in godawful weather, tryin' to get home. Gotta keep the homefires burning and the phone lines open. Later, Ally.
January 28, 2002:
Not fic, but: Saw Le Pacte des loups, or "Brotherhood of the Wolf" in the USA, over the weekend. Bitchin' movie, fantastic effects, great acting, yummy leading man. French language film, English subtitles, doesn't detract from the film one iota. Mark Dacascos (The Crow: Stairway to Heaven, and Boogie Boy, with Ben Browder) in a way cool role. Highly recommended. By almost everybody. Thing is gonna do amazingly well, all kinds of audience buzz from the exit to the parking lots! Farscape connection: Special effects by The Jim Henson Creature Shop. :) Aces! IMdb has a fantastic review of the film, with just a few spoilers, that will either make you drool in anticipation, or run out and see it again! (Click on the movie title above to get there).
January 27, 2002:
Day 5, S-I.E.: Ally's Fic Pics was first created in December 2000, so we are officially 1 year old (and some few days). Whoo Hoo! Where'd I put my confetti?
Only a handful of days to rub together before the deadline for submissions and nominations for the 2002 FanFic Awards. Time flies when you're having fun! Many thanks to the writers and readers who submitted or nominated the 10 fics for SERIES, and the 19 fics for ACTION/ADVENTURE, currently under consideration in these categories. While only 3 can be selected from each category for voting in February, I'm doin' my best to pick out the absolute best for you, but you guys are makin' it hard! Meantime, keep those submissions and nominations coming!
Ramblin' around fanfic.net and found that wordboy has finished Archangel. Here's the link to the story.
Concluding: ARCHANGEL, by wordboy
Something new from orchidcactus over at Orchid's Archive. Shippy Fic to the max. Enjoy!
New at Orchid's Archive: HOME, AGAIN - by orchidcactus
A nice link to a Chi FanFic Archive provided by Loren. Check it out if Chi rings your chimes. ;)
New Archive Link: Chiana's ChiHouse (or is that, 'House of Chi'?)
Also at fanfic.net, a revised updated version of a story first posted on the Scifi/Farscape bb back in October. An answer to UCSBDad's Challenge, a truly bleak story, fluffed and folded and much improved; not withstanding the "To Be Continued" tag added to the end. Check it out. Again.
Updated at fanfiction.net: NO ONE LEFT BEHIND, by one-eyed drd
And OH MAN! Head over to SACC and VOTE!
The Third Annual SACC Short Attention Span Fan Fic Challenge is underway. Check it out. Thirteen stories to read (that can't be good). Voting begins Friday, January 25th, and ends Thursday, the 31st. Winner announced February 1st.
That's all I got for today, kids.
January 25, 2002:
Day 3, Self-Imposed Exile: I can tell this countdown is gonna get to be a bit of a bummer. :( Doin' okay, thanks to some other dedicated Farscape Fan Fic lovers! I wonder if that ringing in my ears can be attributed to bb withdrawal?
Thanks to aeryncrichton for providing links to a ficlet from Shipscat.
New:
NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE, by Shipscat ( pd 1/24/02 )
Doin' a little research at Redbeards, and was staggered looking at the storylist for Shaye. Hm. Got a little readin' to do here. Although, agreed, "Mercury & Smoke" was bitchin'!
Thanks to Loren (not Lorie ;) for links to the opening chapter of a new story from KernilCrash. Although I haven't started it yet, this is an author I have complete trust and confidence in. And while I'm rambling, I have to say, on behalf of myself, ChianaWannabe, ScapeArtist, Still_Waters, and PKAmmoTroop, to be credited for providing impetus to a writer to write and post, and keep on postin', is pretty much the best compliment ever. Thanks, KC!
New: VOICES OF REASON - Chapter 1, by KernilCrash ( pd 1/25/02 )
I may have to run out of town, attend to a bit of business, but I think there's enough here to tide us over. Later.
January 24, 2002:
Day 2, Self-Imposed Exile: No shakes. Still got all my hair. Thumbs UP!
Thanks to aeryncrichton for the URL to an awesome Fractures epfiller for cealliag's challenge. New links added to the MISSING SCENE CHALLENGE down there at the Challenge Lists. In-freakin'-credible, ac! Thanks. :)
Thanks to Lorie for the headsup to Part 7, of BetanSurvey's "Golden Apples". And thanks also for the kind words. Those aren't even required. :) (See, Betan, you got a reader! ;)
Continuing: GOLDEN APPLES - Part 7, by BetanSurvey
Thanks to aeryncrichton for providing the links to the following story from imloco2. Many thanks also to orchidcactus for also recommending this fic, although the Arctic Flower claims to have been ensnared the the innuendo of sex. Loco! I'm shocked! hehe Yep, the BBQ is 'not' above using your own words against you! *snicker* On a final note, this fic also recommended by ScapeArtist! You guys need to get together, have a meeting, coodinate notes. The BBQ is havin' some fun now! :D
Links are also provided down there on the Challenge Lists. Ally's Little Helper's are workin' their butts off! Thanks, guys!

January 23, 2002:
Day 1, Self-Imposed Exile: Going pretty good, not tempted or anything. I miss reading the BB though. *pout* Initial feeling was 'spot-on' it seems, as folks just can't keep the spoilers out of the subject lines! Bad, Bad UKScapers! hehe
Begging really works! Thanks to Atana, orchid, and BetanSurvey for pointing the BBQ to nice safe places, and rockin' fic! New links added to the MISSING SCENE CHALLENGE down there at the Challenge Lists.
New:
RAY OF SMOKE - Part 1 - Chapter 1, by Tassos (Recommendation by BetanSurvey) Reading the author's intro, Ally gets the impression that no guarantees are provided by the author that the story will ever be finished! :) On the other hand, Rhia is adorable, and worth the risk.

Meantime, I shall dash to Leviathan and see what's what. Gotta go feed the kitties and Kitty, too. So much to do, so much to read, so little time!
January 22, 2002:
Well, according to some guy named Murphy, it's perfectly logical that Ally's phone line would fizzle on the absolute last day it was perfectly safe to lurk on the scifi.com/farscape bulletinboard!
Although Ally is now officially ostracized from the scifi.com/farscape bulletinboard, which is one of Farscape Ally's major research sites, and where some of the best author's post their stuff, I do have a number of volunteer spies who will be keeping us apprised of what's goin' on at the bb, letting Ally remain spoiler free, of course. Hopin' to hear from aeryncrichton and orchidcactus regularly for these updates from the scifi.com/farscape bulletinboard. You guys rock!
And from the Department of "Sometimes Begging Works": We are officially BEGGING for emails for the next 38 days. Emails with URLs to stories the poor suffering BBQ needs to make it through! Drop Farscape Ally a line at: johnskeedvabbq@thevortex.com - for the next 38 days, Ally's Fic Pics, officially becomes, Ally's Little Helpers Fic Pics! :)
January 21, 2002:

ARG! Phone line fizzled at 10:27 P.M.!

Repost: FAMILY COUNSELING, by ceallaig. Between ep moments after ...Different Destinations. Loved this one, thanks for the repost Kelly.
The Third Annual SACC Short Attention Span Fan Fic Challenge is underway. Check it out. Twelve stories to read, voting begins Friday, January 25th, and ends Thursday, the 31st. Winner announced February 1st. The BBQ spent the day reading all twelve, off and on, and have picked a favorite. When reading, the readers perceptions color the words and latch onto that which it finds most affinity in. In my experience that is the tale which is so well crafted it generates a visceral response. I'm very excited to see if my affinities match those of others who enjoy this genre. Isn't it too bad only one can win? Good luck to all the very talented authors competing in the SACC Fan Fic Challenge!
And now we're caught up. Thanks for the emails. We love those!

Hm. Nothing from imloco2, huzzlewhat, or CrystalMoon on Killing Furlow-- wassup, no homicidal tendencies? ;)
Another Challenge for the Fic Writers, this one from Celliag. Check the Challenge Lists for link to details on the Missing Scene Challenge.
Atana_Mirtai snags recognition from the FanFic Awards as Author Of The Week. Congrats Atana! Another great choice from FanFic Awards 2002 - Author's Spotlight!
January 17, 2002:
I forgot, many thanks to those hardy folks who pointed out to Ally that there are NOT 60 days between January 22 and March 1st, it seems there are actually only, uh, 37ish days. And of course, huzzah, there be only 30 days, or so, until new eps by then! Yay. ( bright side! bright side! )
New entry for the KILL FURLOW CHALLENGE, link added to the Challenge Lists.
New: At "Soozfic", HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT, by UKTechGirl. This was also at Redbeards, read it a few days ago. It IS evil. I loved it.
Updates at Redbeards, 5 new stories, The Way Home, by imloco2 (posted on the SciFi.COM bb way back in Mid-December) included, along with a handful of short painful sounds from Shaye. Ow, Shaye.
5 more days til Ep 19 airs in the UK. Hurmph. Actually, I can just pop in at Leviathan. Shrift is getting fairly regular submissions. More angst from Shaye. Scary stuff. Too much to read too late at night.

January 15, 2002:
In the interest of completely avoiding posts with subjects like, "OMG!!! [insert spoiler of choice]", Ally won't be visiting the scifi.com/farscape bulletin board between January 22, 2002 and March 1, 2002. Unfortunately this means Ally's major source of FanFic will be untouchable. Frankly, I don't know how I'll get through those 60 days. We'll, of course, be visiting the Farscape Library in the vain hope that the Fic writers will also be posting their stuff at that 'safer' location. On the other hand, think of all the time the BBQ will have for workin' on the backlog of Transcripts! ( bright-side, bright-side! ). *sniffle*

Now, if the Scifi bboard will just let me in, we'll see what's what.
Challenge Updates: Well, I'm guessin' aeryncrichton is regretting that whole "How To Kill Furlow" thing about now. A veritible host of authors chime in with a few, ahem, 'killers'. Check the Challenge Lists for links. You guys ROCK!

January 7, 2002:
Greetings! Just hoping that everybody *knows* that when no daily updates are made, I'm just out goofing around! Nothing serious here except neglecting my obsessions in the interest of greater mental health! :-)
Catching up on email before I get back to the fic, a personal, huge, THANK YOU! Going out to one of my fav authors for pointing out a couple of email address glitches on the judges listing. Thanks Robyn! And for those trying to contact based on my list below, prior to this date LadyJade's and GigglingStar's email addys were FRELLED! hehe Fixed, thanks again!
And more thank you's from Ally... I love these FanFic Awards! If these awards inspire even one gifted writer to share their talent with the Farscape deprived, then Leathergirl has done a wonderful thing! Thanks, LG!
More later today, I've got a LOT of catching up to do!
January 4a, 2002:
Officially feeling ostracized from the SciFi.com/farscape bulletinboard. It's been over six hours, and I still can't get in. What will I do if I can't read fanfic?!
January 4, 2002:
imagine.lomag.net on port 6667 is back in business. Way to go Chris! Hopefully I won't forget to pop in at 6! Yay.
SciFiBboard unavailable! Updates at Redbeards! Two in a row! A total of 20 new stories, although some I've seen elsewhere. Of note: Hidden In Plain Sight, by UKTechGirl, who is truly an evil genius; and no fair lowering scores 'cause we think the author is a heretic or we don't like the plot points-- this is great writing! Also, "DeEvolution" - Part 1, by SpeedBump. Another evil genius returning to torture Saccers, and entertain the BBQ! Unlike Angela, who is seriously torturing the BBQ with the wait, Speedy should provide Part 2 sometime this year. :) And what is it with the Teletubbies bashing? hehe. "Epilogue to Fractures", by Tazey and "Always Close Behind", by GlassShoe are also available now, so read, enjoy, review.
2002 FANFIC AWARDS NEWS: Nominations and Submissions are coming in at a nice rate. The BBQ is way pleased at the entries so far, and has been busy reading and sorting into standings as entrys arrive. The following information should clarify the difference between NOMINATIONS and SUBMISSIONS.
AWARD NOMINATION: Nominations are made by, you, the fan! When you're not the author, you can still nominate a story by emailing your nomination to the Awards Maven at fanficawards2002@yahoo.com. Don't send a copy of the fic, just a few fannish words, along with the Story Title, Story Author, and an email contact for the author so FanFicAwards can contact the author directly. You may make a nomination for ANY category, including several non-fic-author related categories. Several categories are Nomination Only, these are: Best Author, Best Beta Reader, Best Original Character, Best Original Plot, Best Overall Fanfic, and Best Reader of Fanfic. Also, for now, only nominations are being accepted for the Best Horror category. Remember. All nominations are sent directly to fanficawards2002@yahoo.com - remember - do not send file copies or cut/paste copies of stories for Nominations. Only your nomination is needed. And be sure to make your email subject: "AWARD [CATEGORY] NOMINATION"
AWARD SUBMISSION: Submissions are made by the author. When submitting your fic for FanFicAwards consideration, you should send your story directly to the category award judge you would like your story considered for. The following is a list of category judges and email addresses for your convenience (author/owner submissions only):

Okay, I'm the first to admit that my tolerance for silliness is pretty low. Seriously, a little bit of silliness goes a long way with me-- as long as I'm not the one perpetrating the silliness. Then I can go on for days! For those seeking a serious recommendation, 'cause for some reason you think Ally has good taste and a hawkeye for tasty fic, check Ally's Reading List and Ally's Archive for favorite authors. :)

Big News! The 2002 FanFic Awards commences on New Years Day! The BBQ is the fanfic judge for the "SERIES" and "ACTION/ADVENTURE" categories. Only 3 Fics will be selected for reader voting in each category, which means the category judges have to winnow ALL nominated stories from the total submitted to the final three. So, be sure to get those nominations in quickly. The window of opportunity for nominating your favorite fic closes on January 31, 2002. Reader voting begins on February 5, 2002 at the 2002 Fan Fic Awards site. There are TWENTY-SIX categories for the Awards this year, and, hey, *hint hint* Ally and the BBQ could actually qualify for nomination in a couple three of those!
Beginning Tuesday, January 1, 2002, If you have a nomination or two you want to make for the Series or Action/Adventure Category, just email the BBQ at seriesjudge2002@johnskeedvabbq.com

Well, that was FAST! Thanks to Asharah for pointing me in the right direction. Fic I was looking for WAS right under my nose. Hey, uh, do yourself a favor, if you haven't already, and partake of "TAKING IT HOME", by Speedbump over at REDBEARDS or, most likely, at any of your favorite local archives. :)

New:
"CHANGE OF VECTOR: DELTA 2", by cofax
New: "WHAT'S A DRANNIT" - Part 1, Part 2, by LMTCotU. Decent shot at a humorous/romantic tale that attempts to explain just what the heck a drannit might be, and exposing a couple of important things to the crew of Moya along the way. AU story.
New: "180 DEGREES" - Part 1, by TooFarGone. I love a great hook line, doesn't everybody? ;) Hm. This one's an expansion on a ficlet submitted for UCSBDad's "Worst" Challenge... wonder if this indicates the story won't end happily? Only time will tell, I suppose.
Happy Holidays!

"ARNIA" - Part 2, by Jule27. Definately an enjoyable read, we may be in for some surprises. The story would benefit with minor assistance from a Beta for a quick once over. Heck, Ally would benefit. That's why Merriam-Webster is one of my 'favorites'.
Are there any sweeter words in the world than, "My First Fic"? Check it out.
New:
"YETI", by KernilCrash. Great stream of consciousness writer; killer dialogue; excellent handle on the characters.

Ally smells an archive coming sometime soon, so a little reordering seemed in order. Some stuff moved from the blog to Ally's Reading List. New subcatetory creation on the reading list; "AUTHOR'S COLLECTION", inspired mostly by the prolific aeryncrichton. Waiting on a few authors for archiving, and so on.
I'm actually inspired to whine now, cause it seems like everytime I do, I get rewarded. Updates at REDBEARDS.... nothing new from Angela... yet.
So, I'm wandering around Farscape world, looking for something interesting to read. Checking last at fanfic.net, just because it's so hard to find something really good there-- it's so huge-- and stumbled across an interesting writer. Of course, you have to be willing to entertain something deeper than a brother/sister relationship to be fully entertained, but the author is really quite good. Check out the writings of
ChianaWannabe at FanFic.Net. Being a quote-grownup-unquote, I particularly like the adult stuff. CW's writing slides from established believability toward gratuitousness for the sake of J/C fans. I'm one to entertain anything if the plotting and writing justifies, and the particular uses Chi puts her newfound ability to in Siren Song is very interesting; needs further exploration. CW needs to write/post more on the SciFi.com/Farscape bulletinboard. ;)
Enough stalling!

New author alert! You guys are gonna love/hate this! LOL!
"DESPERATION", by SciFiGirlKaren

"THE PROPHECY" - Part 1 of 8, by SciFiGirlKaren ( pd 12/22/01 ). Hm. I've definately read this before. I'm a bit confused, but author's change titles and handles and repost all the time.... don't they?

December 21, 2001:
Added "Disruption", by huzzlewhat to Ally's Archive. A very special treat for the true fan fic fanatic is included with the story-- a brief essay on story development for "Disruption" from the author-- linked under each chapter as Author's Notes. Please be advised that Author's Notes do include story spoilers, so you should read it after you've read the story. :) Many thanks and much gratitude to huzzlewhat for providing the story notes on writing "Disruption" -- as usual, my expectations were greatly exceeded by the author. Enjoy!
UCSBDad makes Ally happy with a multi-part installment for PKAT's Christmas Challenge. Christmas Past, Christmas Present, by UCSBDad. Check out the links on the Fan Fic Challenge Lists. Now, Ally's a bit more hardbitten than Dad, but hey... it's Christmas! Oh, and you may require a little background on this story, so Dad (and I) invites you to enjoy "Treasure Hunt", over at
TGUT. I loved that one-- it's a 'rereader', but perfectly safe over at TGUT, that one's not goin' anywhere anytime soon. Gosh, am I rambling? Hm. Anyway, Ally's been shamefully remiss about not mentioning T(ourists) G(uide) to the UT(you know that one) here, cause she goes there regularly. Pretty archive, recently 'redone'. Great organization, easy to find new stuff. And they archive some great stuff too. Check it out.
First fic, a bit intriguing, enough to check in for the second installment:

Good golly Miss Molly! Toadie posts Part 17 of "Black & White" over at KarlsWeb. Respect for the author, I gotta make you run through KarlsWeb main page to get to the story. Just click the link for Black And White, by Toadie - Part 17, and don't get lost. Part 17 is the finale of what is essentially the biggest space battle Farscape epic I've yet read. Hopelessly AU, but great nonetheless.
I love Christmas. I wonder what lovely fic I'll get, hm. Anticipation is wonderful. Hey, and ah, the BBQ's birthday is comin' up in March. Hope you guys save up some nice John fic for that special day. :) Well, dag nab it, just checked, having the time and all, and Redbeards hasn't been updated since... uh, November 19! Wassup with that? Somebody email Angela and ask her to post her fic on the board! Okay, it's official, I'm whining. Somebody slap me!
Now I'm happy.

If you see a link or something where things went 'pear-shaped', please feel free to email me (I'm beggin' ya!), and let me know. Thanks. And thanks to those who've already lent a hand and set me on the right track. Later, Ally.

unohoo proposes a devious possibility in the ficletini, "Their Secret Weapon".
"Untitled", Part 5, by Scriblix.
"Should've Brought A Bag", Part 10, by BetanSurvey.
Hey! Congratulations to Shipscat. The Furred One picked up the Action/Adventure nod in the Fan Fic Contest over at the Dominar's Domain, for her mini-epic, "The Patter Of Little Feet". Way to go, kitty... high-five!
"Should've Brought A Bag", Part 11, by BetanSurvey. I love this story!
Got a lot of catching up to do. Thanks to all the lovely writers. Later, Ally.

And the much anticipated
"Disruption", Part 6, by huzzlewhat.
Untitled, Part 4, by Scriblix. Man, somebody think of a title for Scriblix! hehe. Ally likes titles. :)
And, arg, 2 days and no part 10 from BetanSurvey. Ah well, I love it when writers torture me with good fic. Maybe later.
A new challenge! Christmas in the UT, posed by PKAmmoTroop. Interested to see what this one generates.
"Silver Dagger", Part 5, by mpwordboy.
And everyone can participate in the writing frenzy with the CMT SPECIAL. Play STORYTIME TRIVIA: EAT ME.
December 2, 2001:
Mucho thanks to Betan for the nic reducer, but now I need to know more about "Cease&Desist"! Always leave your audience wanting more, eh, Betan? Meantime, back at the fic ranch:
"Disruption", Part 5 by huzzlewhat. I just 'love' the mini one-line summaries leading into each installment of this fic. Classic serialization! Beautiful stuff.
December 1, 2001:
Yow, 24 days and counting.
"DISRUPTION", Part 4, by huzzlewhat.
Part 4, "Silver Dagger", by mpwordboy.
"Should've Brought A Bag", part 9, by BetanSurvey.

November 30, 2001:
Part 3, "Disruption", by huzzlewhat
I've heard that reading Disruption can lead to feelings of inadequacy. It's almost too good!
Interesting. Board seems to be back to quote-normal-unquote. Ally didn't miss much. Still trying to hold off reading Disruption til the WHOLE THING is there. hehe. Is that restraint, or greedy excess? hm.
November 29, 2001:
Hm. Board's frelled tonight it seems. I'll have to do some catchin' up myself now. Anyway, if they'll load, here's the links:
"Disruption/Part 2", by huzzlewhat
oooo! It's the infamous, "because of high volume" notice! Can archiving be far behind? Hope I didn't miss anything, check again tomorrow.
November 28, 2001:
I enjoy reading Farscape Fic so much it's hard to believe I enjoy anything more. But (there's always a but, ain't there?), what I enjoy even more is strolling onto the board and seeing that an author who sets a lovely feast has posted a new fic. Makes me gasp and go, "Whoo!", scarin' the dogs, the birds and makin' the kitty run into the closet! :)
New fic in progress: "Disruption/Intro", by huzzlewhat...
and "Disruption"/Part 1, by huzzlewhat.
Continuation of "Silver Dagger"/Part 3, by mpwordboy.
Oh, and I love this. Massive response from various authors on what they have In The Works. Thanks to aeryncrichton for posting the request! Responses include several bits of news that made me grin in anticipation, including news that FDM is still hard at work on fic mentioned yesterday. Yay! Thanks again, ac!
Wow, another woo hoo for tonight! Up til now it was just a typical Wednesday. Yeah.
Continuation of "Should've Brought A Bag"/Part 8, by BetanSurvey. Wonder if we'll get a little pukin' in this installment. hm.
Ally's tendency to use contractions of author's handles is flummoxed by BetanSurvey's handle. I just can't bring myself to christen the author, "BS". :) A little help here?
Part 3/"Untitled", by Scriblix.
All this and the 514th query re: Virginia Hey. Gotta love it!
November 27, 2001:
Okay, I freely admit, I don't read 'everything', and those links and stories archived here are merely my favorites. That fic which caters most closely to my interests. If a fic doesn't hook me in the first paragraph I usually don't read on. Time is finite after all, at least on a day to day basis. So, Ally's just picky, picky, picky, in both style and content. *sigh* Well. Nobody's perfect, but at least I have the grace to feel guilty about it. :)
Part 3/Silver Dagger, by mpwordboy.
Okay, way back on October 11, FarDareisMai posted a 'first fic' sorta, fic. Listed as Part 1. Loved it, held it in reserve for my reading list 'cause I'm never sure if a part 1 from a new author is gonna become a ff (finished fic), and sure enough, November 27, and no sign of Part 2. Still, it's a killer fic, very read already, but also deeply re-reading worthy. Ghost popups chased FDM away from SciFi.com on October 18, so I'm still hopeful this fic will be revisted by the author. Stands very well on it's own. Here's the link: "Realizations", Part 1, by FarDareisMai. Here's hopin' FDM's friends are badgering for the next installment.
November 26, 2001:
Food for thought: orchidcactus, CrystalMoon and birthsister... better than chocolate! Yum!
Part 1 of a new fic provided by an old author. Good stuff. "Walk It Off"/1 , by Neuroscaper.
November 25, 2001:
So, I skip a couple of days. It's a holiday. Whoo hoo! The authors are skipping a few days as well. Here's hoping everyone had an intensly lovely holiday. Hoping for great things come Christmas. I know I'll be having a happier holiday. I'd be incredibly tough to beat how much last year sucked, so I'm fairly confident.
Also been dwelling on the following. I've read around on the net a great deal at the sites and boards that post Farscape Fan Fic, and I honestly believe that the most talented, creative authors, post at the Scifi.com/Farscape Bulletin Board. You guys absolutely rock!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, mpwordboy posts part 2 of "Silver Dagger". I love it when the author is their own best critic. But, that's true of every author, isn't it? This one's got lovely pacing, great dialogue, right on characterization (so far), and great Farscape 'feel'.
Oh, and I freely admit, I went, "AHHHHH!", and did a little bouncing up and down when I saw this posted today. "Just One Look -- Part 9", by CrystalMoon.
One of my favorite bb writers has taken up writing fic, granted, ficletini's, but who's arguing with Chocolate Mousse? Caveat for those completely spoiler free (like me), this ficletini is admittedly inspired by spoilerish magazine material interviews. So, question becomes is it fair to say that spoiler fueled paranoid speculation qualifies as non-spoiler material? This may qualify as avoiding thirdhand smoke, but if you're the least bit spoiler nervous, skip this one. I may... at least til April 2002. Otherwise, go read "Time To Go", a ficletini, by RydraWong. *sniff* how 'bout something for us on a spoiler free diet, Rydra?
A Thanksgiving present by orchidcactus, "A Little Too Late". Thanks orchid, and Happy Anniversary! You know, technically, people are supposed to give you presents on your Anniversary. ;)
Congratulations to the second Spotlight Author of the Week at the Farscape FanFic Awards...UCSBdad! Check out UCSBDad's award and author's bio, and don't forget to Congratulate the author. Yay, Dad!
Scriblix posts "Untitled, Part 2" while I'm not lookin'.
November 23, 2001:
Scriblix posts part 1 of an Untitled fic. looks promising, nice progression, fic in progress.
November 22, 2001:
Skipped an entire day, and not even two full pages of posts. Hm. Maybe this Thanksgiving thing is something after all. ;)
Technically, it's Thanksgiving, at least in California. Somehow I'm still awake in the wee hours. So, hopped over to the bb to see what's what. Here's the scoopy (hehe, scoopy... there's a typo I think I'll leave... for a bit) from Ally's POV:
Well, unohoo posts the final installment of BrownFinger, a wackly riff on 007. Sorta James Bond meets Farscape. Link down at the Challenge Lists. If you're dyin' for something different, give it a taste. And now, for the first time in a while I get a chance to check out what's new at
Redbeards,
Only Human,
My Scape, and
orchid's archive.
One sec. brb.
Okay, updates on November 19th, at Redbeards.
Leathergirl's, "John Crichton Was Here" is up. Go. Read. Vote. And as a special bonus, excruciating shippyness alert, check out "Look At The Stars" - Part 1 & 2, by Angela. Excellent characterization, especially Crais's, very nice. Although actions may spur some "so-n-so wouldn't do that!" comments. An Ally would have to give some points off for Shameless ShippynessTM and a TerraceTM mention, but that's just 'cause Ally's a unremitting cynic. Fic In Progress.
And when, rarely, I recommend NC-17 rated fic, you better be an adult and be prepared to act like one if you run off and read it cause I said it was hot. *cough*"The Well Known Act, by Robyn Bender*cough*. Well, now 'that' was adult. hehe. Hey, I'm tired. It's late.
Nothing new at Only Human since October's "Chimera". If you haven't read it yet... what the frell are you doing here? Nothing really new at Analise's archive My Scape, but there is a lovely little post Icarus Abides ep fic, "Paper Life" that you really need to read if you haven't yet (along with everything else there). Annnd, nothin' new over at orchid's archive, unless you haven't yet read "And They All Came Tumbling Down", which went up fairly recently. The author rated it NC17 for safety reasons. This one was an answer to UCSBDad's "What's the Worst...?" fic challenge. So, it's NOT orchid's fault. :) Please send all heartbroken responses to Dad. :) ahem. Moving on.
This is why I love the BB. Something new every day! Night all. Have a Happy.
November 20, 2001 (Part 2):
Not to be caught with my pants down again, I wander over to the bb to see what's what, and so is born the 'Second Daily Update'!
oo! More Challenge Fic down at the lists.
Another ficlet*sigh* from oblivion7. Gotta say, just NOT enough good Crais fic out there. Eat it up! "Interlude", by oblivion7. Excellent shot for first fic. If we're good, we could get more!
This is the best kept secret in Farscape Fan Websites! No, wait.... ARG! Busted! hehe. Thanks, Crys.
Cripes, yet another ficlet. But remember what I said about the jawbreaker? Checkout "First Words", by CreatorKatie. Bring a hankie.
And, that's it for now. Okay. Saving space. I swear, that's the last time I'll say that!
November 20, 2001:
ooooooOOOooo, no update yesterday! What was I doin'.... hm. Uh. Well, dunno. Oh yeah, working on CMT and hookin' up the live game in Vegas. Okay, well, and whimpering a lot. So, some catchin' up to do today! OOps, and I finished and uploaded my "fluffed and folded" epsiode transcript of WGFA, and got about halfway through of same for LATP1. So, busy busy! hehe
From the Department of "Ask and ye shall receive", Ancient Jack posts Part II of "Infiltrator"! Thanks, Manny! We love ya! Remember Manny when it comes to the Best Beta Reader nominations this year! You rock, Manny! Well, ATB holds a special place in my heart, but that's an author of a different color there. :)
Whole lotta, well a few, new challenge entries. Check the Challenge List below for updated links.
And, duh, sometimes I don't read a fic before I list it on this page. BUT, in knowing the author I know it's gonna be a rockin' fic. Attend: aeryncrichton posts another J/A Post Fractures Fic, check out Revelations. And does this mean we can count imloco2 and huzzlewhat as Beta Readers? hmmm.
Should've Brought A Bag/7 just in time for... well, in time for this update. Don't miss this fic by brand spankin' new author BetanSurvey. Excellent work! Engaging story. Only about half-way through, according to the author. I love the "gets rather gross in places" caveat! hehe. Has there been an installment yet that hasn't made someone queazy?
Okay, is it fair to say that I don't like ficlets? Nobody hurt me, please! But, I don't. I like my fic long. Longer the better. Course, added to that I also like complex plots and engaging characters. Get that for free with Farscape, but still. That bein' said and all. I don't wanna exclude a nicely written piece just cause it's less than a thousand words... heck, sometimes less than 200 words. But, here ya go. From LateScaper, A Glimmer. Nicely written, expanding on existing lore. Way too short. Short fic's gotta be more like a jawbreaker. Not much there but you can savor it for a long, long time. :)
Annnd, that's it. Granted, kind of a quick run through. Possibly missed something. Oh, and this is just for me, so I'll remember to go back to it and read ALL responses. Gotta run before my leg turns into a hunk of cement. Later! (geez, the blog is gettin' way long. Wonder when scifi is gonna archive the board.)
November 18, 2001: Good time to note-again-that I read everything, well, at least everything posted at the Scifi.com/farscape bulletinboard. Only those works that I adored and want to read again (indicating, I hope, that they are written by damn fine authors), are listed here. More for me to be able to easily find again, than for anything else, but-- hey, enjoy. Flying in the face of that... anyone seen Part 2 of Ancient_Jack's "Infiltrator"? Part 1 was posted waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back on October 30.
Continuing
"Should've Brought A Bag/P6", BetanSurvey posts Part 6 of this can't miss fic..
New stuff from Shipscat, check out
"Because You Were Closer", a short fic for some J/A venting.
Continuing "Farscape: Above & Beyond", 4thDixieChick posts Part 2 of the series. Alternate Universe/Crossover fic caveat.
The dought is hittin' hard. Less than one full page of posts in the last 24 hours. Wow. But the fic just keeps on comin'. Double-wow.
CrystalMoon nets the first ever Author of the Week award from fanficawards2002. Check out CrystalMoon's Trophy, and an 'author's bio' at the Author's Spotlight.
November 17, 2001:
Shipscat posts part 50 of New To This World, concluding the storyline. Link below in Ally's Reading List.
And, rats, missed part 2 of unohoo's response to aeryncrichton's Chocolate Challenge, Brownfinger. Okay, who else giggles just 'lookin' at the title?
November 16, 2001:
BetanSurvey completes and posts "Should've Brought A Bag", Part 5., which remains my favorite title for this fic. And do yourself a favor, read In My Room, by Praps, fourth in a series of drought fics by the author.
RESPONDING TO CHALLENGES: UCSBDad runs a fic up the flagpole and salutes, for _player_'s challenge. Atana_Mirtai flings a challenge of her own (but can the Farscape world stand much more shippy fic?), and unohoo posts an entry to aeryncrichton's Chocolate Challenge. All CHALLENGE FIC entry links are posted way down there, at the Challenge Lists.
Shipscat posts part 49 in her epic saga, New To This World. Checkout Ally's Reading List for all links to this story.
In view of the content of this page, I just keep makin' the worst mistake I possibly could! Very embarrassing. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you spot something I've screwed up on. I really have to thank Atana_Mirtai and aeryncrichton for catching a couple of of those, thanks!

For the next few weeks/months I'll be concentrating on updating the Chainmale Trivia Game Links, and putting up more transcripts for both myself and the transcript fans. I'll have less time to mess about with posting what I'm reading, so, IF you're visiting to see what Ally's reading, you may not find much new. Be happy to hear from you to hear what YOU are reading and what YOU are finding facinating reading. Please feel free to email me at johnskeedvabbq@thevortex.com even if it's just to say "READ THIS: URL". hehe. I'll probably do it. You know how desperate readers can get!
Later, Ally.

October 29, 2001:
All kinds of new fic, I've got A LOT of catching up to do. Again, read all responses to UCSBDad's fanfic challenge at your own risk, the management assumes no responsibility for ensuing fits of depression and anxiety, or, um... bouts of self-conscious snickering. ;)
Latest installments of fic by Shipscat and CrystalMoon have been posted, links updated below. Those in need of MORE fic, check out Parts 3 and 4 of 30d954A's, "Abominable Spaceman" posted while the BBQ weren't lookin'. You may also enjoy johnsgrl's, "Lean on Me"; I did. And if you're in a grim mood, you might check out Neuroscaper's, "The Mourning Process", fic in progress. Part 1, Part 2. Geez, is this confusing enough?
October 24, 2001:
"Then You Will Know How I Feel", by wiscaper; another delayed link posted for a fic answering CrystalMoon's October 2001 Fan Fic Challenge. Definately need those glasses! Thanks for the headsup! And, oh good golly, Ships is up to Part 33 in New To This World. This speed writing thing is an illusion tho... the kitty spends 8 months writing before posts even BEGIN! hehe (don't hit me!) ;) The hits keep comin'; "Crazy To The End", by pkgrl posted in answer to the October 3rd Challenge, link provided.
Fanfic pouring from our ears! 30d954A of Mivonks.COM, gives us (despite his better judgement! :); "The Abominable Spaceman. Parts 1 and 2 are already posted. Where've I been? Be sure to feed the fic authors... they get... skittish when they think nobody's readin'! ;) And, no, D, I haven't updated the CMT pages... yet. What's a BBQ to do with a priority list that refuses to stand still?! **hugs**
October 23, 2001:
"New To This World", by Shipscat is up to Part 31-- Part 6 of CrystalMoon's, "Just One Look"-- and Part 16 of Toadie's, "Black & White" post at Karlsweb. Almost time to clean this mess up a bit. Hm. Maybe later, sick as a dog right now. Who made up 'that' saying?
Anyone not visiting Only Human regularly has probably missed a couple of absolutely killer stories by Maayan, who has rapidly become my absolute favorite author. Ally reads "No Dominion" practically on a daily basis, novella length or not! Anyway, check out the following at Only Human: "Chimera", an atypical post-Fractures fic, "No Dominion", and the NC-17 rated "Lovers Be Lost", postscript to "No Dominion". You ROCK, Maayan! Thanks to Vic, for that email to jog Ally's poor addled brain. :)
October 15, 2001:
CrystalMoon's October Challenge STILL goin' strong. Links added to more stories included aeryncrichton's "Hope", which I, duh, missed on October 10, 2001. Time for glasses!
October 10, 2001:
Arg! SciFi 'purged' a lot of fic posted in the Library. Therefore, some of the links to stories posted in the library may be *gasp* dead. I'll get around to checking them soon, but for sure all links to Shipscat's, The Traveller's Song are DEAD! SciFi hasn't an artistic bone in their body, else they would never have purged the library, fer crissakes! Anyway, more on the FIC CHALLENGE, links just down there *Ally points briefly downward before bolting*. So much fic, so little time! Part 21 of "New To This World", by Shipscat posted, link below. Enjoy
October 9, 2001:
From the Department of "It's About Damn Time", Ally has finally posted the links to the final parts of Falkayn's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Check it out. Leave feedback! These parts got lost due to conflicting schedules, dang it! Hey, new entry's in CrystalMoon's FanFic Challenge, including a killer one from the moon-child herself, links are just down there *Ally points helpfully*. All this, and Part 20 of Shipscat's "New To This World"! The creative juices are goin' ALL over!
Oh, and check out imloco2's demand for "Happy Fic!" hehe, I think CrystalMoon's onto something! Get those funnybones warmed up!
October 8, 2001:

Just in time for "Fractures", Maayan rings in with an amazing vision in " House Divided ". Incredible stuff. Read it, and, ah, weep. This fic can likely also be read at Only Human The author lives, eats, and breathes Farscape angst! Enjoy!

Okay, cool, here's a good one. "John Crichton Was Here", by LeatherGirl. A lovely narrative postulating events in John's past. Interweaves lovely details from established factoids, into a mainly great fully fleshed story. Story's in progress, but confidence is high it'll be finished soon. Links below. Updates to David Falkayn's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" have been added as well, hope someone noticed. Leave feedback, the authors love it. Makes 'em sweat and write more. :)
August 10, 2001:
Being a glutton for punishment, but one that's ready to shout "MERCY!", I had to add links to aeryncrichton's little fic "Knowledge". Beautifully written, but you've gotta love to cry to read it. Thanks AC.
