ep discussion

The one where the BBQ shouts, "About damn time!", whoo-hoo's shamelessly, and is grateful Jen and inky like us so much - otherwise... dead. Dead BBQ. *bg*

Classic 'ship' show, and by that we mean 'set on Moya', but like everything else on Farscape; dual meanings are inherent and accepted as the norm.

In unusual congruence, Moya!Crew hangs about while all aboard let John test theories in predicting wormhole formation, and for their trouble Moya gets whacked by the biggest Chia Plant(tm) in the Uncharted Territories... and only Rygel blames John. Go figure.

Plans go from bad to worse and appropriate mayhem ensues while the crew works frantically to save Moya and themselves. Scorpius proves himself more than useful, we learn that compared to Noranti, John is perfectly sane. Sikozu flaunts her intelligence and her ignorance, Chi gets twitchy, Aeryn gives and gets bad news, and the crew still finds time to pick a Captain for Moya.

New to 'scape

Aliens & Critters

  • The Plant. There's definitely too much in the Uncharted Territories that wants to eat Moya's metal. First the buggy nuggets from the LGM Trilogy, and now this!

Words

  • Sentra Chords. Undefined part of the Luxan Shilquin.
  • Hindrati Petal Tea. More lunacy from the old woman. Something that, apparently, coolant rod fluid 'tastes' like. *shudder*
  • Scalon Vapor Return Duct. Part of Moya. Function: Vague, beyond the vapor 'lingering in the blood stream'... mostly harmless.

Self-Referencing's a Bitch!:

  • Shilquin: Awesome Luxan instrument [not that one, silly - git yer mind outta the gutter] makes a reappearance.
  • Nixa & Narl: Clansman words for 'girl' and 'baby' crops up in Chiana's dialect. Taking The Stone.
  • Toubray Tissue. John proves he can learn things from Sikozu as well as the reverse. This term describing Moya's neural tissues first popped out of Sikozu's mouth in Crichton Kicks.
  • Scorpy's Personality. Okay, this ones probably just me; made me grin cause... personality? But first time I grinned at that idea was when Scorpy/Harvey let John in on the fact that a bit of his 'personality' now resided inside John's head. brrrrr. Homage to Harvey. 'Won't Get Fooled Again'.
  • Budong!
  • Rygel's fears arise from earlier appearances the massive spacefaring Budong. Home On The Remains, where Moya appeared no larger than a speck of food between two skeletal teeth, and Green Eyed Monster, wherein Talyn and crew were nearly digested by one.
  • The Flax!
  • Yet another of Rygel's fears. The Flax, an An electrostatic scan that instantly disables ships, favored for the scuttling by the Zenetan Pirates of The Flax and Liars, Guns & Money, Parts 2 and 3.

Big Deals, Nicknames and Crichtonisms

  • Ripnitz. Chi word, as in "not you, you ripnitz." A term of endearment, sorta like 'nut' or 'idiot'. Said with affection... probably adjustable.
  • Nixa. Clansman word for 'girl', pops up from Chi re: Sikozu, asking D'Argo if, "that nixa" annoyed him.
  • Captain Chaos. Chi's term of endearment for Rygel.
  • John calls Noranti, 'Grandmama', 'School Lunch Lady', and 'Glenda', for another witch reference. Geez, after asking her her name in the tag of Resurrection, I don't believe he's actually 'used' it.
  • Audry. John's nic for the plant. Little Shop of Horrors ref.
  • Atmospheric Scrubber. Another new room for Moya. Home of the tiering fan filters.
  • Tiering Fan Filters. Uh. See 'Atmospheric Scrubber'. *g*
  • Sikozu gets into the swing of things, referring the Noranti as 'this old demon'.
  • Solanterum Fobex. A mildly-radioactive compound, used in Scorpius's coolant rods. A toxic absorbing compound commonly found in Moya's filter system. Also excellent for killing plant overgrowths, but needs to be heated to be effective.
  • Benefits of being Nebari 101. Chi's skin reflects radiation. Also, apparently, why they're so 'white'.
  • But bad news for the Kalish. Even minimal ion exposure is fatal. Sikozu and Zhaan would not get on.
  • Cool for Scarrans; ion radiation makes them stronger. So, Zhaan?
  • Frell-wit
  • . Rygel's not so friendly nick for Pilot.
  • M.I.A.. John's term for Noranti's initial status after the collision. 'Missing In Action', from, what? Every war ever?
  • Candy Kitchen. John's name for the Center Chamber, where Sikozu and Noranti are hopefully cooking up something sweet, or at least; useful.
  • Moya's 'Lobes'. Okay, hehe, don't make me laugh here. Uh, 'lobes'. Part of Moya's Neural Center. Exact nature undefined but she apparently has multiples... lobes that is. Partially redundant in that partial loss does not significantly impact Moya's functioning.
  • Electrolyte Regulators. Partially metallic substructures within Moya's 'lobes'. *g*
  • One Million SPF
  • John's reference to the gorgeous golden gel Chi uses to protect him from the 'planned' low level radiation of the solanterum exposure. The BBQ goes hypnotic and imagines this as another reference to the right eye of Horus, an abstract depicted in What Was Lost, which represents, among other things, the sun. SPF: Sun Protection Factor. Okay. Kinda funny. Remember: more than one meaning.
  • Purple Haze. Crichtonism for the purple mist from Moya's filter system, and, we're told; title of a Jimi Hendrix tune. Because we're nuts, found an article on the source of the lyrics, as well as the lyrics. Makes sense to us. But, you know: Mentally.Damaged.
  • Four. Number of votes to make a Leviathan Captain.
  • Seven Cycles Length of time a fertilized embryo can be retained by female Sebaceans born on Command Carrier. Suggests all kinds of genetic engineering. eh?
  • PBS. Gets a mention. Reference to the informative nature of Pilot's dissertations.

Casualties and 'Frell! That's gonna leave a mark!':

  • One Plant
  • Aeryn gets knocked cold. John, Chi, Scorpius, Pilot, Moya and Rygel are exposed to undetermined levels of ion radiation; Chi, Pilot, Rygel and Scorpy just don't care. Chi nearly gets sliced and diced.

Very Fine Lines

  • "See plant. Kill plant."
"That's gotta be on the Luxan Coat of Arms."
  • "I love shooting things. You know what? I'm very good at it."
  • "Well, I need to know whose it is first, and... I can't tell him that I don't know."
  • "You defy the whole theory of natural selection."
  • "So, one million SPF... you sure this is gonna work?"
"Nope. But Aeryn said it would. Something about you wanting to have more babies?"
  • "If this goes bad, please die first so my last moment can be joyous."
  • "Hey. You still got your pants on."
"Well that would be a first."
  • Aeryn... I figure a relationship... the kind we're not having... is based on trust."
    "I'm so sorry."
"Yeah... me too. 'Cause you don't... trust me. So, I don't know how to trust you."
"I think I've earned your trust."
"I would put my life... in your hands... but not my heart."
