Guest Stars Reappearing:

Raelee Hill Can a single show have too many redheads? Apparently. Reappearing for the fourth consecutive episode as the gravity defying Sikozu Shanu, Jack of all Trades for Hire. Previous appearances in Season 4's "Crichton Kicks", "What Was Lost, Part 1: Sacrifice", and "What Was Lost, Part 2: Resurrection".

Melissa Jaffer Well, gee. We must have a blind spot here 'cause we've skipped Ms. Jaffer in previous appearances in the last three tranny's at least. Okay then, a frequent visitor, Melissa previously appeared on Farscape in Season 2 as 'Old Nilaam' in the S2 ep 'Vitas Mortis', and as the voice of the female Pilot in 'The Way We Weren't'. Ms. Jaffer returns in a recurring role as the withered Traskan, Noranti in the S3 finale, 'Dog With Two Bones', and in the first three episodes of S4, 'Crichton Kicks' and the two parter, 'What Was Lost, Parts 1 & 2: Sacrifice & Resurrection'.

John Adam Oh, welcome back John. Mr. Adam previously appeared on Farscape as the helmeted and practically blind Tavloid, or Tavlek to be precise, Bekhesh, from Season 1's 'Throne For A Loss' and Season 2's triple-threat, 'Liars, Guns & Money, Parts 2 and 3: With Friends Like These and Plan B'. Returning again as the nearly blind rebel Tarnak, Raa'Keel. Cool.

ep discussion

Okay, this one's easy. Simply Fluff.

On their way to rendevous with Moya who is still who knows where, the crew of the good ship Lo'La must take a brief respite on a planet which is still mainly molten rock. A rest stop of the Uncharted Territories-- so that Rygel can void his bowels and D'Argo, Crichton and Chiana can have a nice purge.

Before you can say "Ali Baba and the Fourty Thieves", Rygel gets everyone in hot water with a local band of, well, thieves. And the rest is, "how the hell do we get out of this?"

While this ep is darker than the previous eps in Season 4, it makes up for it by being a comedic episode, full of guilty snickering at random rampant bathroom humor. Enjoy!

New to 'scape

Aliens & Critters

  • Tarkan Freedom Fighters - Philanthropic agents with only a few bad apples mixed it. Look sorta like bipedal flies.

Words

  • Schlock - Hynerian for, uh, relieving oneself.

Big Deals, Nicknames and Crichtonisms

  • Shield Belts - some enterprising inventor is makin' a mint off these babies, able to block a pulse blast from a Qualta Rifle, and once engaged, protect a body from the dibilitating effects of lava. Mama Crichton's baby boy needs a few of these suckers.
  • Jilnak - A cleansing restorative concoction of Noranti's devising.
  • Armarak - an amberlike substance useful against heat penetration.
  • A euphamism for taking a crap: "Drop some friends off at the pool." And this one is just jammed with bathroom humor.
  • Okay, we probably knew this already, but now proof incontrovertible, D'Argo's tongue can be used for more than just lashing people unconscious.
  • John calls Noranti, 'white girl'; likely an illusion to her dancing skills, or lack thereof. And in a potential more correct variation, Judith passes on the following: "John's reference to Noranti... I suspect you'll find its origins in a very politically uncorrect old joke. The joke can be quite a shaggy dog story but, basically, the short version, told unPC, goes that the Lone Ranger and Tonto are trapped by attacking Indians and it's become clear that there's no escape. The Lone Ranger turns to Tonto to offer him thanks and a final farewell, admitting that "we won't be getting out of this one". To which Tonto replies, "What 'we', White Man?" It's a pretty lame joke, amusing mostly to kids, I think -- I hope." [Yeah, but, since when is Farscape influenced by PCness? *g* Thanks, Judi.]
  • John calls the armored Raa'Keel "Tin Man", for yet another OZ reference, refers to a couple of his flunkys as "Moe" and "Curly" of the Stooges fame, and the final flunky he dubs "Mr. Redshirt", a Trek fan reference describing the mostly expendable red shirted security guard who gets aced, normally in the opening. Also another one for Rygel, "Whoopie Cushion" - reference to the constant farting throughout the ep.
  • Mikey. This in from Kerry [BBQ must'a blinked]: John refers to Rygel as Mikey, when Noranti offers the jilnak. This probably refers back to the old cereal commercial where the two boys are discussing the suspicious healthy cereal, wondering if it tastes good. They say "Let's get Mikey. He doesn't like anything!" And when Mikey tastes it and dives in for more, the other two sit there stunned. "He likes it! Hey, Mikey!" [ Most likely. :) - Thanks, Kerry! ]

Casualties and 'Frell! That's gonna leave a mark!':

  • Ultimately the bad apple Tarkan and every single one of his flunkies; although John and Co. can only be credited with the bad apple himself and four of the flunkies.
