Guest Stars Reappearing:

Kent McCord: Returning as the very image of John's 'Heroic' dad, Earth Astronaut John Robert Crichton Sr., aka "Jack". Kent first played John's dad in the Season 1, episode "Premiere", aka "Episode 1". Kent McCord returned in the image of Jack Crichton in the mid-Season 1 episode "A Human Reaction", in the guise of John's dad. In reality he was an advanced alien being testing the suitability of Earth to be the new home planet for an endangered species. Regrettably, they determined that earth's indigent species would not be able to peacefully co-exist with them. "A Human Reaction" also introduced Scapers to the concept of "The Ancients", who were responsible for implanting the wormhole information in John's brain. In season 2, Jack returned in the episode "Won't Get Fooled Again", again portraying the image of Jack Crichton, this time as a product of John's demented imagination, thanks to the Scarrans. Welcome back, Kent. Is it possible you'll be stayin' a while?

Magda Szubanski: Magda returns as the irrepressably brilliant 'mechanic', Furlow. First seen in the season 1 episode "Till The Blood Runs Clear", the wiley Furlow foxed John outta his wormhole research when Scorpius was still just a gleam in DK's eye.

Thomas Holesgrove: An error in the Journey Log for IP1 at scifi.com/farscape holds Sir Tommy as appearing in Part 1 of "Infinite Possibilities", but he is not credited in the episode. I fear SciFi is 'jumping the gun'. We won't actually 'see' Tommy til Part 2. Mr. Holesgrove is Farscape's "Suit Guy", likely returning inside the 'skin' of his fourth consecutive Scarran, sometime in Part 2. With Aeryn, Jack, John and Furlow working on an 'ultimate weapon', things don't look good for Tommy. Previously appearing in the skins of the late Halosian, Tak ( Out Of Their Minds ), the late Scarran, Cargn ( Look At The Princess Trilogy ), the late Scarran, Gahv ( Won't Get Fooled Again ), the late Sheyang, Teurac ( Liars, Guns & Money, Parts 2 & 3: With Friends Like These & Plan B ), the late Diagnosian, Tocot ( Season Of Death ), as well as the late Scarran, Erathran Plonek ( Season Of Death), the late Moordil ( Suns & Lovers), annnnnnd ( gasp, pant, gasp... ) the late Colartas tracker, Vek. While it's highly likely Thomas was inside the skin of the Colartas in "Thanks For Sharing", he survived the ep, which is likely why no one was credited for the part. I love this crap. hehe.

TRANSCRIPT BEGINS

PREVIOUSLY ON FARSCAPE

Teaser opens with standard voiceover by Lani Tupu: "Previously on Farscape."

Setting the stage with clips from season 1 episodes "Till The Blood Runs Clear", "A Human Reaction", "Nerve", and the season 2 episode "Won't Get Fooled Again":

Clips from "Til The Blood Runs Clear", recapping John's earliest efforts to recreate the 'accident' that dumped him in a distant part of the galaxy:

Pilot: "If you keep moving out of the planet's shadow... we'll lose contact entirely."
John: "Can't be helped, Pilot. Solar flares are what I came to see."
John: "Holy mother... that's a wormhole!"
Aeryn: "It looks unstable. And it's pulling us in!"
Aeryn: "Full reverse thrusters!"
John: "Guys, I might have just found a way home."
John: "Look, you're gonna have to speed up repairs."
Furlow: "What for?"
John: "I gotta get back up there. I'm collecting data."
Furlow: "The ability to create a stable wormhole-- travel through space and time, would be incredibly..."
John: "Profitable."
Furlow: "Probably."
John: "I'll download you a copy of the data as soon as I get back aboard the ship."
Furlow: "Exclusive rights, or there's no deal."
John: "The data."

Clips from "A Human Reaction", John discovers the Ancients used him to determine Earth's suitability as a home for their species:

John: "You made me think... you were my father!"
Jack: "We brought you here to recreate your memory."
John: "Why not just... make a wormhole to take you to Earth?"
Jack: "That would use all our remaining power."
John: "Show me... what you really look like."
Alien: "Many of us hoped that Earth might be our welcoming place. But the highest lifeform on the planet is also the most destructive. You're humans would kill us."
John: "So what will you do now?"
Alien: "We continue searching for a home."

Clips from "Nerve": John and Scorpius discover the 'gift' that the Ancients left in John's brain, courtesy of the memory extracting device called the 'Aurora Chair'.

Jack: "These equations are necessary for creating a wormhole. You cannot access this data conciously. You won't remember this part of our encounter. The unconcious knowledge we've given you... will guide you."

Clips from "Won't Get Fooled Again": The Scorpius Clone spills the beans about the neural chip.

Scorpius: "Ah, the Ancients were here first, implanting the wormhole knowledge I seek. But, when my Aurora Chair failed to unlock that information, I had to implement... a second strategy."
John: "You put something in my head."
Scorpius: "A very sophisticated neuro-chip. It contains me. Or a mental clone of my ah... personality."

Teaser closes with standard voiceover by Lani Tupu: "And now... on Farscape."

COLD OPEN

CGI - EXT. Space

Talyn hangs in the blackness of space over a blanket of distant stars. O.V., John and Aeryn's soft voices, sounding out erp words.

JOHN:
[O.V.] Gu...

AERYN:
[O.V.] Gu-ah-un.

CUT TO - INT. Talyn. Long shot of John and Aeryn tumbled on their bunk, spooned in opposition to each other. Aeryn's head resting on John's blanket covered legs, John's head resting on Aeryn's hip. She's in front, lying outside the blanket wearing a black t-shirt and black briefs. Spooned behind her, John's covered to the hips with the blanket which hangs partway down the wall, wearing a black tank top. Their boots are discarded carelessly on the floor by the wall.

AERYN:
Gun.

JOHN:
Gun. ( laughs )

AERYN:
( laughing )

JOHN:
( laughing softly ) Do the next one.

John strokes Aeryn's hair as her attention is turned back to the open 'book' on the pile of blankets in front of her.

AERYN:
Su-ah-nuh. ( beat ) Sun.

JOHN:
Sun.

AERYN:
Sun.

Shot zooms in 'slowly'. This is an absolutely fabulously gorgeous shot, the 'portal' the width of the bunk 'reflects' John's back in the glass, his head propped on one hand as he continues to stroke Aeryn's hair, her arm, wherever he can touch her. Aeryn closes the 'book', laying it aside.

AERYN:
You know that everyone thinks your crazy as a banta bug.

JOHN:
Yeah, what else is new?

AERYN:
Mmm. You still hearing it?

JOHN:
Hmm... feeling it. It's like a homing signal.

AERYN:
( sighing ) Or a trap... Scorpius trap.

JOHN:
No, no, no. I know Scorpius. This is different.

CUT TO - close up on Aeryn, thinking out loud as John runs his fingers through her black black hair.

AERYN:
All right, so let's say it is this alien who takes the form of your father. Why would they come looking for you now?

CUT TO - close up on John, his cheek laying on hers. Well... her hip.

JOHN:
I have no idea. I thought the Ancients were done with me.

AERYN:
Mmm.

CUT TO - long shot on John and Aeryn as she turns toward him, softly running her fingertips over his brow, his hair, toying gently with the cup of his ear. [ god, lovely! ]

AERYN:
Why... don't you... just ignore it? Why do you want to look for it?

JOHN:
Because I'm not done with them.

Aeryn sighs and turns away, dropping her hand on the bed.

JOHN:
Do you think I'm crazy?

AERYN:
( nodding ) Mmm. I've always thought you were crazy. You know that.

JOHN:
Do you know why... I'm crazy?

AERYN:
( smiling ) Why are you crazy?

John sits up, the hem of his black t in his teeth, exposing the pale skin at her waist, pressing his lips against her shoulder before moving them back toward the exposed patch of skin.

JOHN:
You.

AERYN:
Me?

Aeryn laughs, then gasps softly as his lips make contact.

JOHN:
( laughing softly ) You.

AERYN:
Mmm.

John lifts his head slightly, getting ready to head south when something outside the portal draws his attention.

JOHN:
Aeryn.

AERYN:
What?

JOHN:
Out there.

AERYN:
What?

JOHN:
Look.

CUT TO - Close on Aeryn and John from outside the portal, John's looking directly out, and Aeryn's peering out over his shoulder.

CUT TO - Ext. Space. STOCK CGI - The wormhole with 'Earth' visible at the end of the vortex [ from "A Human Reaction" ].

RYGEL:
[O.V.] Oh no!

CUT TO - the bridge. Close on Rygel.

RYGEL:
Not again!

Shot pulls wide, Crais enters frame standing beside Rygel.

CRAIS:
Have you seen this before?

RYGEL:
Unfortunately, yes! And so's Crichton.

Talyn signals audibly.

CRAIS:
Yes, Talyn.

Crais moves to a wall console.

CRAIS:
Appearances to the contrary. This planet seems to have no mass. It must be a illusion.

Camera pans quickly left as Crichton enters doubletime, Aeryn behind him... wearing that frelling green zip top [ Okay, quick explanation. Green=Danger. ]

JOHN:
It's a billboard. It means we've found what we're lookin' for.

Reaching one of the forward consoles, John stops, engaging a control.

JOHN:
Hello, anybody out there? Ancients. Jack. Whatever you want to call yourself. This is John Crichton. Hello... Come out, come out, wherever you are.

The ship lurches heavily, everyone lunges forward, trying to keep to their feet.

CUT TO - Ext. Space. The wormhole encompasses Talyn, blue walls swirling all around the red and black ship. Insert shot briefly on John on the bridge looking out the forward portal, a grave look on his face, then cutting back to Talyn bobbing up and down in the wormhole as the image of Earth grows intensely bright. Abruptly a white flash of light obliterates all else [ and call me paranoid but it looked like the 'image' of earth 'blew up' ] and Talyn is flung backward.

CUT TO - the bridge. At the forward console, John and Aeryn whirl about to confront an intruder, as do Crais and Rygel. Shot cuts to a familiar figure standing under the centerpoint on the bridge, camera rushes in to close-up on 'Jack'.

JACK:
I'm here.

Crais whips out his pulse pistol, drawing dead aim on the intruder.

CRAIS:
Talyn...

JOHN:
Crais, no.

John intervenes, holding Crais's arm off a dead lock on 'Jack'.

JOHN:
I know this guy.

JACK:
And I thought I knew you. I may have been wrong. If I was... I may have to kill you.

'Jack' raises his left hand and an intensely bright light strikes John's head. John grunts slightly as his head snaps back on his neck with quite a bit of force and he writhes beneath the alien's energy. A seriously 'no kidding', Aeryn, draws her weapon instantly, dead aim on 'Jack'.

AERYN:
Let him go, or I will shoot.

The alien ignores her, continuing whatever he's doing in John's head.

CUT TO - close up on John, head arched backward as if from the pressure of the halo of white light surrounding it.

END COLD OPEN

ROLL OPENING CREDITS

"My name is John Crichton... I'm lost... an astronaut... shot through a wormhole.... In some distant part of the universe.... I'm trying to stay alive... Aboard this ship-- this living ship... of escaped prisoners-- my friends. If you can hear me... beware... if I make it back... will they follow? If I open the door... are you ready? Earth is unprepared, helpless... for the nightmares I've seen. Or should I stay, protect my home, not show them you exist. But then you'll never know the wonders I've seen."

ACT I

Talyn - The Bridge.

Close up on John, head arched backward as if from the pressure of the halo of white light surrounding it. A flare of white light obliterates all and...

CUT TO - Theater of the Mind; a cool blue place. Abruptly John finds himself standing in a wide open space, only he and Jack are present. Shot is a moisaic, overlaying images of close-up, and close shots of John on long shot of Jack circling John. Held immobile, head flexed slightly back, John's voice is strained by a level of discomfort very apparent, but his reactions are bland as if he were bored by the experience, or maybe just politely pissed.

JOHN:
What the heck is this?

JACK:
Our last encounter left a residual link between our minds. I summoned you with it.

JOHN:
Right, got it. Make your point.

JACK:
My race was looking for a world to inhabit.

JOHN:
Yeah, I know, but Earth didn't work for you, so I can't help you there.

JACK:
We found a world, perfectly suited to us. The Ancients are there now.

JOHN:
Well, congratulations. What can I do for you then?

JACK:
On our travel to the new world, we saw this...

INSERT SHOT - STOCK CGI. Farscape one entering mouth of a wormhole.

JACK:
Your module-- being flown though an unstable wormhole--. piloted by this creature.

INSERT SHOT - Close on creepy cadaverous looking alien piloting Farscape one.

JOHN:
What...? Who the hell is that?

JACK:
You tell me.

JOHN:
No idea. Never seen one before. When was this?

JACK:
A third of a cycle ago.

JOHN:
Well, my module was safe aboard Moya a third of a cycle ago.

JACK:
Are you saying this is a duplication?

JOHN:
I'm saying I don't know anything at all about it.

INSERT SHOT - Farscape one entering the mouth of a wormhole, cutting to close on a small device mounted on the craft, just behind the cockpit.

JOHN:
What's that device?

JACK:
A phase stabilizer. Allows travel through any wormhole. Technology only a few could duplicate. Did you teach this creature to build it?

JOHN:
How would I do that when I don't know how to build it?

JACK:
Are you speaking the truth?

JOHN:
Jack... you're a mind reading alien... like my dad. Don't you know when I'm speaking the truth?

JACK:
I can only penetrate your mind this deep.

JOHN:
Bummer.

JACK:
We gave you a gift. You misused it.

John's expression goes from bland to cold, he doesn't look as though he considered it a 'gift'.

JOHN:
What gift?

JACK:
If you didn't build that stablizer, who did?

JOHN:
I don't know.

CUT TO - Theater of the Mind; Amusement Park A brilliant flash of light and John is no longer sharing his mind with Jack, but has been summoned to a meeting with Scorpius. Wearing his yellow jumpsuit and driving a 'bumper car', beside a car containing Scorpius, wearing a red and white racing outfit. Your basic Amusement Park music providing the finest touch of insanity to the scene.

JOHN:
What the hell?!

SCORPIUS:
Sorry, but I need your attention. And we only have a few moments.

CUT TO - Long shot behind John and Scorpius driving their separate cars, alone on the straightaway of the track.

SCORPIUS:
This is a facinating place in your memory... and hard to find.

JOHN:
( sourly ) What do you want?!

SCORPIUS:
Discretion! That false father image will terminate us both if he learns of my existence.

At the turn, Scorpy slams his car into John's.

SCORPIUS:
There's no reason he should. Scorpius didn't copy your module.

JOHN:
How do you know?

SCORPIUS:
Tell me this, John... could you rebuild a module from memory, huh?!

JOHN:
Probably not.

Scorpius gives John's car another slam.

SCORPIUS:
Neither could Scorpius. All he knows... is what my neuro chip absorbed from you!

JOHN:
So, who did it?

SCORPIUS:
Who else knows of your wormhole search? Who has both... access to your module, and the expertise to replicate it, hmm?

JOHN:
Furlow.

SCORPIUS:
Elementary!

Scorpius slams his car into the rear of John's car again.

JOHN:
Either that, or you're coverin' your ass.

SCORPIUS:
Why give Jack... irrelevant information which may only provoke him into killing us all! Aeryn included.

JOHN:
Why would he kill Aeryn?

SCORPIUS:
Gamble with her life if you want, tell him everything! But don't say you weren't warned!

Scorpy slams his car into John's a final time, blindsiding him beautifully.

CUT TO - A visit with Jack inside John's mind. The slightest wobble on John's part as he's ripped from the kiddie park and returned to the wide open spaces again.

JOHN:
Maybe...

INSERT SHOT - an image of Furlow sitting inside John's module [ from "Till The Blood Runs Clear" ]

JOHN:
Furlow.

JACK:
The mechanic?

JOHN:
Yeah.

JACK:
From Dam-Ba-Da?

JOHN:
That's the one. ( beat ) So, why don't you go bug her? And can we please... get out of my head?

Jack stops circling John and raises his hand to John's face again. John's head snaps back and the shot is filled with brilliant white light.

CUT TO - the Bridge. John staggers backward from Jack's upraised hand. Aeryn immediately steadying him.

JACK:
He's unhurt Aeryn Sun.

John and Aeryn both turn a hard look on him.

JACK:
We may have misjudged you. I hope we did.

Crais still has his weapon out, holding it on Jack.

CRAIS:
Who are you?

JACK:
My given name is... ( speaking unintelligible alien language...for a while ).

Cut to John grinning a bit, perhaps recalling Jool's introduction.

JACK:
You can call me Jack.

CRAIS:
How did you get on board?

JOHN:
Save it, Crais.

John pushes Crais's arm down, but Crais's only concession is slightly lowering the weapon.

JOHN:
We got bigger fish to fry. Jack, shown 'em the... postcard. Maybe they can identify the pilot.

INSERT SHOT - The cadaverous looking alien sitting inside the modules cockpit.

Cut to close on Rygel, he's looking a little surprised and a bit ill.

JOHN:
You guys know what that critter is?

AERYN:
I don't recognize the species-- Crais?

CRAIS:
I'll just check Talyn's databanks.

RYGEL:
( whispered gasp ) Fa-pu-tah!

JUMP CUT - Elsewhere on Talyn, perhaps Stark and Rygel's 'quarters', Rygel 'paces' back and forth behind a large strategy table, Stark following and then preceding the Hynerians throne sled as he reverses directions.

RYGEL:
It was a Charrid, Stark! A frelling Charrid!

STARK:
You're familiar with that species?

RYGEL:
Oh, a thousand cycles ago, the Charrids invaded Hynerian space. They killed a billion of my people... ate a million of our young.

STARK:
I'm sorry, I didn't know.

RYGEL:
We finally repelled them with suicide attacks. Wave after wave after wave. More death than even you could fathom-- Until we drove them off!

STARK:
But if they had wormholes, they could come back and--

RYGEL:
And attack us without warning and disappear before we could retaliate?! We have no defense against that! Oh...!

STARK:
Quiet... I know a Delvian chant that is very calming in times of stress. ( chanting )

Stark place both his hands on Rygel's face.

STARK:
Say it with me... ( chanting )

RYGEL:
Stop it, you lunatic! Get it through what's left of that head of yours that this is serious!

CRAIS:
( entering ) More serious than you can imagine. Unconfirmed intelligence reports suggest an alliance between the Charrids... and the Scarrans.

CUT TO - John and Jack walking Talyn's corridors.

JOHN:
Lay it on me, Jack. Why are you so afraid of a Halloween mask in a tiny module?

JACK:
Because they were on a course similar to ours, which may have led them right to the new home of the Ancients.

JOHN:
All right, I understand... you're concerned about your privacy. But you guys are god-like aliens with the power of wormholes.

JACK:
We're a dyin' race, John. The voyage made us weaker. We may not be able to defend against a hostile species. That's why I stayed behind. To make sure no one could find them.

JOHN:
You missed the boat?

JACK:
I volunteered.

JOHN:
But you can catch up?

JACK:
Unlikely.

JOHN:
Well, Jack, this may all be for nothing. Funnyface could be Furlow's test pilot, but... Furlow's not a hostile species, she's an entrepenuer. We can buy her out and everybody's gonna be happy.

JACK:
Then we should contact this Furlow and investigate.

JOHN:
Yeah, you're probably right. If Furlow's on to something, I want to know about it.

CUT TO - CGI. Ext. Space. Talyn soars past, engines humming in excellent tune, camera pans right following the Leviathan's progress. A large brown planet enters frame and Talyn approaches for orbit. [ Gorgeous. ]

STARK:
[O.V.] That's Dam-Ba-Da?

CUT TO - the Bridge. Crais moves from console to console, Stark stands watching out the forward portals.

STARK:
I thought it was populated?

CRAIS:
It appears to be sterilized. Spaceport's been leveled.

STARK:
By what?

CRAIS:
Unknown. Talyn detects no weapon installations.

STARK:
Any life signs?

CRAIS:
Talyn can't detect anything at this distance. It could be camoflaged or underground. ( beat ) Talyn?

Talyn acknowledges with a couple of tones.

CRAIS:
Flare activity from this star could damage your systems. When we're gone... get into the planet's shadow and shut down all the exterior systems you can.

Talyn acknowledges with a single tone. [ That kid's got a sexy tone. ]

CUT TO - Talyn's corridor. Long shot on a corridor junction as Aeryn and John enter and move down the next corridor. They're loaded for bear, dressed to kill. Aeryn's got her long gun hanging from the strap over her shoulder, a pulse rifle tucked under her right arm, and John, walking just slightly behind, has another even longer gun slung over his shoulders as well as a standard pulse rifle in his left hand. Ready to go planetside, I'm guessing they're heading for wherever Talyn keeps Moya's Transport Pod.

JOHN:
So, you think we really need all this stuff?

AERYN:
I hope not, but we don't know what we're going to find.

JOHN:
Yeah... sorry to screw up your life again.

AERYN:
Yeah, as long as you know it's all your fault.

JOHN:
Me and my damn wormholes.

AERYN:
Not all wormholes are bad.

Cut to close on Aeryn and John as they walk the corridor.

JOHN:
No... but, ah, if I hadn't'a been huntin' wormholes, we never would have run into Furlow or the Ancients.

AERYN:
If you hadn't fallen into a wormhole, you never would have met...

JOHN:
Rygel. ( grins and looks at Aeryn )

AERYN:
( smiling ) Furlow, I would think, is a better match for you. You could pool your knowledge and chase wormholes all you want.

JOHN:
Furlow, yeah, she's sexy. She's a good one to take home and meet the folks.

Aeryn gives John a silent glance over her shoulder.

JOHN:
What? You didn't think I planned on goin' home alone, did ya?

AERYN:
I haven't been thinking about it.

JOHN:
I wouldn't...

John and Aeryn pull up for a moment, facing each other. The import of this discussion not lost on either of them.

JOHN:
...want to do that. To go back alone.

AERYN:
I wouldn't want you to.

JOHN:
We should talk about this.

AERYN:
( softly ) Some other time?

JOHN:
( smiling ) Yeah. ( nods and smiles ) We could do lunch.

He leans in, softly kissing her lips. Loving to linger, the kiss breaks and he rubs his brow gently against hers, strokes her nose with his... and with a final warm smile into her closed eyes, he walks on. Aeryn pauses, eyes opening. She licks her lips, then presses them together, watching him walk away... then follows him.

CUT TO - CGI. Ext. Space. Talyn stationary in space. A gorgeous black and red vessel-- sleek and deadly. Camera pans 'down' revealing the lower hull, and the sound of a transport pod precedes it's appearance as it soars below Talyn and toward the planet surface.

CUT TO - Int. Transport Pod. Crais adjusts a pair of large goggles over Rygel's eyes. John and Stark are in the pilot seats, Aeryn behind them.

STARK:
Still can't detect any activity on the planet surface.

AERYN:
Here, Stark.

Aeryn hands Stark a pair of the large goggles, he takes them and tries to hold onto her hand, lingeringly, she has to pull her hand away while he mutters repeated thanks.

STARK:
Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

JACK:
Put 'em on. Flare's coming.

AERYN:
How do you know?

JACK:
I can sense them. It'll occur in ten microts.

JOHN:
Be a good time to land, it'll cover our approach.

John pulls the goggles down over his eyes.

RYGEL:
( to Jack ) Where's your goggles?

JOHN:
He doesn't need 'em, Fluffy, those aren't his real eyes.

RYGEL:
Hmm?

JOHN:
Everybody hang on.

Everyone actually does it, grabbing onto something stationary and looking down as the extremely bright light of the solar flare penetrates and fills the cabin through the forward portal. [ It's a beauty of a shot. ]

CUT TO - CGI. Ext. Planet Surface. The transport pod soars low over the compound, circling from right to left, landing a short distance away from where there used to be a large wall surrounding the compound. Only a brief expanse of the wall remains.

CUT TO - Int. Transport Pod.

JOHN:
All right, seat belt sign is off. Aeryn, Crais-- we're up.

CUT TO - Ext. Planet Surface. Long shot on Crais jogging up over a rise, holding a large weapon at the ready. Cut to extremely long shot, Crais sillouetted against a low ridge of the surrounding desert.

CRAIS:
The entrance is open!

Cut to the bunker-like entrance to Furlow's garage, a large gun implacement just to the left of the entrance from Crais's POV. No sooner than spotting the entrance, a salvo of weapons fire from the large cannon on the gun implacement causes a bit of a panic.

CRAIS:
Get down!

JOHN:
Take cover!

Crais charges toward the bare cover of a few collapsed structures just a short distance from the entrance. John and Aeryn charge over the ridge, following him. Weapons fire from the large energy cannon rains around them, shooting dust and sand into the air. [ oooh! Crais has "Mr. Sparky"! ]. Crais ducks behind a bit of cover. John slides into home, sheltering behind an even smaller bit of wreckage to guard their rear and Aeryn runs to cover a bit in the lead to cover the forward approaches beside Crais. Just as they achieve cover, John notes small weapons fire from behind.

JOHN:
Where the hell's that cross fire coming from?!

Another solar flare begins, obliterating details.

CRAIS:
Aeryn, can you see anything?!

AERYN:
No, it's the flares!

JOHN:
Maybe it's just a couple'a guys!

John swings his weapon up to brace on the wreckage, aiming to the rear. As the flare abates he immediately sites a couple a dozen figures charging over the ridge.

JOHN:
Okay, maybe not.

Aeryn brings her weapon to bear on the forward approaches and notes a couple a dozen guys pouring out of the entrance of the bunker. They are pretty well outnumbered as well as surrounded.

Crais, Aeryn and John, pinned down just outside Furlow's bunker.

AERYN:
Here they come!

All hell breaks loose, opponents fore and aft, handicapped by no cover at all. Weapons fire from John and Aeryn take out some players in the first few moments. Random fire from the energy cannon doesn't seem to hit anything more than the ground and a large pool of shallow water between Talyn's crew and the group of aliens just outside the bunker.

CRAIS:
Talyn, stay in shadow! Don't expose your senses to the intensity of the solar flare! He knows we're in trouble and he's coming back to help us!

AERYN:
Well, tell him to stop!

CRAIS:
He refuses!

CUT TO - INT. Transport Pod. Stark runs into the forward compartment, pulse rifle in hand, to find Rygel making preparations for take off.

STARK:
What are you doing?

RYGEL:
They're cut off. There's nothing we can do here.

Stark aims the rifle at Rygel.

STARK:
You try to leave, and you'll be cut off.

JACK:
Another flare is coming-- 20 microts.

CRAIS:
(over comms ) Talyn, a flare is imminent...

CUT TO - Planet surface. Firefight continues as the aliens charge across the open to get at Talyn's crew.

CRAIS:
...shut down your senses! Break off!

Fire continues to rain down on them, no good shots... yet.

CRAIS:
No, Talyn! Go back!

AERYN:
Do it, Talyn!

CUT TO - Talyn in low planet approach, dropping down to skim just above the surface, 'strafing' a group of aliens. Talyn takes out quiet a few, however the flare builds, obliterating details, but we get to see Talyn's 'wing' clip off the top of a few stone pillars. Screen flares white as we are 'all' blinded by the flare.

Talyn climbs out of the atmosphere as the flare subsides.

CUT TO - Close-up on Crais's neural link. The link at the back of Crais's neck flares and sparks while Crais screams in pain.

CRAIS:
( screaming ) Talyn, reverse direction! Head for the dark side of the planet!

AERYN:
( to Crais ) Take it out!

Crais continues to scream incoherently as Aeryn continues firing, taking out the few remaining Charrids between them and the bunker, those that Talyn missed in his strafing run. As another falls, Aeryn ducks to Crais's rear while John continues taking out more Charrids as they stream over the ridge. Taking out one too many, they head into full retreat as Aeryn 'pulls the plug' on Crais's neural link.

VOICE:
( shouting ) Pull back!

The last disappear from the ridge and John rolls to Aeryn's side.

JOHN:
We gotta get to that bunker. How's Crais?

CRAIS:
I can't see! Talyn is blinded, and so am I!

AERYN:
Stark, come down here now, and take Crais back to the pod! Crichton and I will have to go on alone-- You stay here. You stay under cover.

JOHN:
Cover me.

John bolts from cover, heading straight for the bunker entrance. Immediately more Charrids appear from the entrance and the cannon fire resumes. From cover, Aeryn takes out the three Charrids while John charges straight ahead, splashing through the shallow water, Aeryn bolts from cover, following closely behind, the cannon taking one final shot at her.

Pulling a grenade from beneath his coat, it's electronic whine building quickly, he tosses it sidearm into the dark entrance and takes a 90 degree'r to cover on the left of the entrance.

JOHN:
Fire in the hole!

Aeryn splashes through the shallows and darts right, taking refuge against the wall. Seconds later a a deafening blast of black smoke and fire fills the entrance, spilling outward.

CUT TO - INT. Furlow's Bunker. More armed and armored Charrids charge the entrance and Aeryn and John enter blasting. A prolonged firefight ensues as Aeryn, backed by John, unerringly drop Charrid after Charrid, John firing the long gun in his right hand and pistol in his left. They move deeper into the bunker as the Charrids drop under this withering fire. An unstoppable force.

CUT TO - INT. Transport Pod. Stark and Jack lead a blinded Crais into the forward compartment.

STARK:
( chanting non-stop )

CRAIS:
He said help me, you idiot! Not chant me over to the other side!

CUT TO - INT. Furlow's Bunker. Aeryn and John continue to forge a trail of Charrid bodies. It's a startling body count, they fall like bowling pins.

JUMP CUT - Aeryn kicks open a door and continues blasting the occassional Charrid foolish enough to leap in front of her, John covers her back. A final three go down and they discover Furlow. Her portly body seated on a crate, hands shackled in chains suspended from the ceiling. [ Looking much the same as she did in "Till The Blood Runs Clear" save for absence of those cool black goggles and a fresh bloody cut on her cheek.]

FURLOW:
Well, well, well. If it isn't my favorite flyboy. Just couldn't stay away from me, huh?

JOHN:
What the hell happened to you?

FURLOW:
You know, I'd be happy to tell ya all about it ( shouting ) if you'd just cut me the frell down!

John raises the aim on his rifle and blasts the eye-bolt holding the chains above Furlow's head.

JUMP CUT - Aeryn, leading the charge, mows down more Charrids, John fires over her, with Furlow jogging at the rear. Exiting a narrow corridor, they enter a large open area, taking out a few more Charrids, Aeryn finally only looking around for additional Charrids to fry, while Furlow takes a shot at one with her huge frelling wrench. He goes down, hard. Hearing this, John turns and grabs the wrench on the back swing, stopping the killing blow. [ she's pissed ]

JOHN:
Furlow!

John swings the point of his rifle around, urging the Charrid to stay on the ground.

FURLOW:
What?

JOHN:
Save someone for questioning.

Furlow sighs and rolls her eyes in disappointment.

AERYN:
How many troops on the planet?

CHARRID:
Bring any sisters? You won't be enough to pleasure all of us.

Aeryn gives him the butt of her rifle [ without love ].

AERYN:
How many!

John steps in close, almost feeding it the muzzle of his rifle.

JOHN:
My, grandma... what big teeth you have.

CHARRID:
We'll feast on you tonight... and tomorrow, all your families!

JOHN:
Yeah, and you can have our pets for breakfast.

Aeryn pulls a device from the Charrid's belt, activating it; it hums quietly.

JOHN:
Communicator?

AERYN:
I think so. Might be able to listen in. How many ways into this place, Furlow?

FURLOW:
Except for the front door? None. All of the approaches are booby-trapped and some of the automatic guns are still working.

AERYN:
"Some."?

FURLOW:
Probably.

AERYN:
I'll check the perimeter.

JOHN:
That's a good idea.

John's eyes never waiver from the Charrid on the ground.

JOHN:
Do me a favor? Take Smiley here and stash him somewhere on your way out.

CHARRID:
You fear me!

JOHN:
No, you just smell.

FURLOW:
Toodle-oo.

AERYN:
Move!

John backs up a little, allowing Smiley to stand. Aeryn gives the guy a boot to the ass, and John circles, keeping aim on the Charrid until Aeryn propels him out of the room. Lowering his weapon, John turns to examine Furlow's 'toy'.

JOHN:
What the hell is this?

John closely examines the copy of Farscape One which stands at the center of Furlow's workshop.

FURLOW:
What do you think? A truely fine copy of your module. Got a nice detailed scan last time you were here.

JOHN:
Yeah, when you ripped off all my data.

FURLOW:
You know, you're... gonna have to let that go, Johnny. Point is... I flew through a wormhole... four times ( holds up four fingers ) and not just a wormhole-- a proto-wormhole. Unstable as all flitz... didn't even muss my hair.

JOHN:
How long have the Charrid's been here?

Pacing back and forth across the floor, a grim look on his face, his eyes seeking out all the hidden places, he listens without looking at her [ or smiling ].

FURLOW:
I hired 'em... for security. They even did the first test flights. Then... a couple of solar days ago the blotchers double-crossed me. Killed all my techs... tried to torture the secret outta me... get the passwords to my computers, but ah... I'm tougher than they thought.

JOHN:
Right.

FURLOW:
Oh, one more thing.

JOHN:
What?

Finally standing still, John turns to focus on the 'one more thing'... and Furlow takes a step in close, reaches up to wrap a hand around the back of his neck, pulls him in close and lays a nice big kiss right on his lips. Lingering pressure as he's too surprised to do much, then a slight popping as she releases him, eyes batting coquettishly

FURLOW:
Thanks for the rescue.

She sashays away uttering a muted girlish giggle, while he stands, slightly bent over still, completely speechless. Cut to close as his tongue rolls out, a brief 'bad-taste' look on his face. [ those cigars! LOL! ]

JOHN:
( softly ) Uhh...

CUT TO - INT. Transport Pod. Crais, Stark and Rygel onboard. Hopefully Rygel is piloting from the forward console, as Crais is in the pilot's chair and he's... you know... blinded.

AERYN:
( over comms ) Transport pod...

CUT TO - INT. Furlow's. Elsewhere in Furlow's, Aeryn hails the pod. She's stashed the Charrid somewhere already.

AERYN:
... all clear outside.

CRAIS:
( over comms ) Aeryn, my link with Talyn is gone.

CUT TO - INT. Transport Pod.

CRAIS:
He's blinded and panicked. I must find him and board him quickly.

CUT TO - INT. Furlow's. Aeryn quickly takes level risers.

AERYN:
All right. Stark, send in Rygel and Jack...

CUT TO - INT. Transport Pod.

AERYN:
( over comms ) ... you try and take Crais back to Talyn.

RYGEL:
Uh, w-wait a microt. I'll fly Crais back. We get Talyn working, we can kill more Charrids quicker.

CRAIS:
No, no, no, no! Stark knows Talyn, he can help calm him down.

STARK:
Let me be your eye!

RYGEL:
Perfect! The half-blind leading the blind.

CUT TO - INT. Furlow's.

AERYN:
No, he's right Rygel. Get in here.

CUT TO - INT. Transport Pod.

STARK:
She likes me more than she likes you.

RYGEL:
( Growling )

Fade out on Rygel.

FADE TO - EXT. Planet Surface. The Transport Pod lifts off and heads off planet circling overhead.

CUT TO - INT. Furlow's Workshop.

JOHN:
What happened to this planet? Looks like it's been carpet bombed.

John discards his coat on a nearby workbench, Furlow follows him to the module as he climbs up to examine the phase stablizer more closely.

FURLOW:
Solar flares got bigger than ever. Most everybody cleared out.

JOHN:
Solar flares? The last time I was here you said there weren't gonna be any solar flares for 4.8 cycles.

FURLOW:
( shrugging ) I lied.

JOHN:
You lied.

FURLOW:
Yeah, I figgered it'd keep you away for a while, so I could... work in peace.

John looks up as Aeryn and Jack enter.

AERYN:
Charrids are keeping their distance, but it won't last forever. They are regrouping.

FURLOW:
I'm tellin' ya, they're not gonna get in.

Furlow turns toward Jack, who is examing the phase stabilizer.

FURLOW:
Who's he?

John does a casual intro., having moved forward to check on the hetch drive components.

JOHN:
We call him Jack. Jack, Furlow. Furlow, Jack.

FURLOW:
Hands off the merchandise there... Jack.

JACK:
Give me the tool so I can open this up.

FURLOW:
Give me one reason why I oughta let ya?

AERYN:
Can I give you two? We just saved your life ( gun cocks ) and this gun.

FURLOW:
Fair enough.

JACK:
Another flare-- 10 microts.

JOHN:
Pod?

CUT TO - CGI. EXT. Space Transport pod enroute.

JOHN:
( over comms ) Another flare, 8 microts.

CUT TO - INT. Transport Pod.

STARK:
We're ready.

Really ready, with goggles on, Stark looks over to Crais, sitting beside him, sans goggles... but not really needing them at the moment.

STARK:
Well... some more than others.

The flare builds, light permeating the cabin.

STARK:
Crichton, can you hear me?

CRAIS:
Of course not! Not while the flares happening.

STARK:
Oh, right. I don't like this planet much.

CRAIS:
Neither do I. Just stay on the vector I gave you!

STARK:
We're on vector! Don't worry, we'll find Talyn.

CRAIS:
Finding Talyn is just the beginning of our task.

CUT TO - INT. Furlow's Workshop. John and Furlow watch while Jack goes over the module's phase stablizer.

FURLOW:
Talk to me, Johnny. Who is that thoddo?

JOHN:
He's one of the last remaining members of an ancient alien race who knows all about wormholes.

FURLOW:
Um-hm. So, what's he doin' here?

JOHN:
Making sure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands.

Aeryn enters, standing behind Furlow.

FURLOW:
Right, well... he can have the technology... if... he can afford it.

Furlow wanders off, and Aeryn steps up beside John.

AERYN:
I think we should tie her back up.

JOHN:
Don't tempt me.

AERYN:
No, I said tie her back up.

Aeryn smiles slightly. [ I'm wondering if she's trying to cheer him up a bit, he's awfully grim. ]

CUT TO - INT. Furlow's. Elsewhere, Rygel is catching up with the Charrid prisoner. [ have I said that these guys look a bit like carcasses left too long in the desert sun? ] With the Charrid tied up and helpless, Rygel figures he's pretty safe at the moment.

CHARRID:
A Hynerian. Good timing. I'm hungry. Pity you're so aged. You won't be so tasty.

Rygel scowls at the bound Charrid.

CHARRID:
Don't glare at me! I'm not impressed. You think a Hynerian could ever frighten me?!

RYGEL:
( mildly ) Oh, I'm not here to frighten you. No, no, no, no, no!

CHARRID:
Then what? To question me? Plainly you are unaware of our superior resistance to pain!

RYGEL:
Actually, I do know something about Charrid physiology. Just as I know something about your weaponry.

Rygel pulls a wicked looking 'knife' out of the discarded pile of the Charrids belongings; two bladed with back curving spars between the blades.

RYGEL:
( sinister chuckling ) This ractor, for instance, contains neural circuits that inflict ten times the normal pain. Designed to be effective even against your own kind. A very unpleasant death.

CHARRID:
You don't dare kill me!

RYGEL:
Don't I?

CHARRID:
The others want me alive!

RYGEL:
Yes. Well, plainly you're unaware of one more fact: I don't give a garanta's brax what the others want.

The Charrid looks a bit worried as Rygel looms it with sinister intent.

CUT TO - Furlow's workshop. Jack continues his examination of the phase stablizer, now disconnected from the module and resting on a workbench.

JACK:
Primitive... underpowered...

FURLOW:
It's only a prototype... ya welnitz.

JACK:
The underlying technology's sound.

FURLOW:
You bet your frangle it is.

JACK:
What have you done? Who else has this knowledge?

[ Good thing 'Jack' has his attention focused on Furlow, 'cause John and Aeryn exchange a 'very' concerned look. ]

FURLOW:
Nobody got it from me. And they won't, unless of course... they can meet my price.

JACK:
You'd sell this to anyone?!

FURLOW:
Excuse me? Is that any of your business?

JACK:
Yes! You have no idea what this can do!

FURLOW:
Sure I do. That's how I know it'll make me rich.

The building is shaken by a heavy explosion, although the sound is muted.

AERYN:
Mortar fire.

FURLOW:
Well, the Charrids are gettin' bold again.

AERYN:
Can this structure withstand a mortar attack?

FURLOW:
Probably.

Aeryn shoulders the strap of her weapon and heads out again.

AERYN:
( muttering ) Frell.

FURLOW:
Ah, let 'em come if they dare... that's my motto.

JUMP CUT - Elsewhere in Furlow's, Aeryn takes a hike down a corridor, her attention suddenly drawn by a howling scream.

AERYN:
Rygel?

JUMP CUT - Elsewhere in Furlow's, Aeryn rounds a corner, neato factory crap in the bg. She instantly spots the fresh corpse of their Charrid prisoner, his skull-like face coated in pale green blood.

AERYN:
What have you done?

RYGEL:
Interrogating.

As Aeryn kneels beside the body of the Charrid, camera pans up and left to Rygel, holding the wicked lookin' Ractor, which is now dripping with viscous looking pale green blood.

RYGEL:
I thought he'd last much longer than that. He did tell me that there is a Scarran Dreadnought heading for this planet. It'll arrive within six arns.

CUT TO - CGI EXT. Space. Close on Scarran Dreadnought, so big it nearly fills the screen without showing nearly all of it. It's escort is over a half-dozen smaller 'prowler' type craft.

END ACT II

ACT III

EXT. Furlow's Bunker.

A couple of Charrid's load and fire a mortar.

CUT TO - INT. Furlow's Bunker. Furlow, Aeryn and Jack escort John, who's carrying the phase stablizer, down a hazy red corridor as the mortar fire continues to shake the building.

AERYN:
I'm hearing more and more calls on their comm net.

JOHN:
They're gettin' ready to storm the castle.

AERYN:
Crais, can you hear me? Stark?

FURLOW:
Keep tryin'. Those flares play hezmana with comm signals.

They turn a corner, entering another workroom. John sets the phase stablizer down on a work table. Rygel's already there.

FURLOW:
Can that ship of yours stand up to a Scarran Dreadnought?

AERYN:
Not a chance. Even if he could see, it's about twice the size of a Command Carrier.

Another mortar attack rocks the building.

RYGEL:
We have to do something.

AERYN:
We will, come on.

Aeryn turns and marches out, Rygel following reluctantly, mostly 'cause Aeryn tows him a bit before heading out.

RYGEL:
W-w-where are we going?

AERYN:
You like killing Charrids? Now's your chance.

RYGEL:
But, I ah...

John turns back to Furlow after watching Rygel and Aeryn leave.

JOHN:
This doesn't worry you?

FURLOW:
Nah. Even if they do get in a lucky hit and breach a wall the booby-traps will get 'em before they get in.

JOHN:
You hope.

FURLOW:
I know. If the Charrids hadn't jumped me in orbit, they'd'a never gotten in.

JACK:
They breach the defenses, we're gonna have to act fast.

FURLOW:
"Act fast"? You have... some kind of plan?

JOHN:
We don't let the bad guys get the technology.

John holds up two small black objects.

FURLOW:
Tarbik grenades... surely you're not suggesting...

John sets the two grenades on top of the stabilizer.

JACK:
We destroy it.

The building shakes under heavy mortar fire.

CUT TO - CGI. Ext. Space. Talyn hangs in space, on the 'dark side' of the planet.

CRAIS:
[O.V.] What can you see?!

CUT TO - INT. Talyn. Stark leads Crais down a slightly smoke filled corridor, black conduit hangs down the corridor walls. The ship shudders counterpoint to sounds of distant rumbling.

STARK:
Damage, damage, damage.

CRAIS:
Whatever would I do without your verbal gifts?!

STARK:
Oh, you want more words? Well, the conduits are damaged, bulkheads damaged, external sensors damaged too! There is nothing that is not damaged.

CRAIS:
Least of all, you!

STARK:
I can see!

CRAIS:
If only you could think! Talyn! I know you are scared, but you must be able to hear me!

Crais pulls Stark to a stop, concentrating on Talyn.

CRAIS:
Turn to your treblin side and accelerate. Get deeper into the planet's shadow!

The rumblings lessen somewhat.

STARK:
( muttering ) Better, better!

Stark tries to pull Crais toward the leftward corridor but Crais yanks his arm away.

CRAIS:
I can find my way on my own ship!

Crais meaders in a semi-circle, arms extended, slams into a wall and slides down it. Panting and struggling he stands, leaning against the wall. Stark watches him, grinning manically. [ I love him, but this is the first time Stark's made me laugh since Nerve. ]

STARK:
Are you ready now?

Stark grabs Crais and drags him down the left corridor.

CUT TO - EXT. Planet. Extreme long shot, Aeryn's siloutte against the side of the automated gun turret above the bunker entrance. O.V. is Rygel grunting. She drops her backpack on the ground and climbs in.

RYGEL:
[O.V.] What's this?

CUT TO - INT. Gun Turret. Rygel sits up front as Aeryn climbs in, pulling off her goggles.

AERYN:
It's an automated gun turret.

RYGEL:
Well, it doesn't look like it's working.

AERYN:
Well, the targeting system's gone, but everything else is still intact. You can operate it manually.

RYGEL:
I can?

Aeryn shows Rygel a series of controls on the panel just in front of him.

AERYN:
Yeah. That's where you reload, this is aim, and this is fire.

INSERT SHOT - Ext. Planet. Close on energy cannon muzzle. Cannon fires.

AERYN:
Now, if you can't actually hit anything... just make sure you force the Charrids to keep well away from us.

Aeryn attempts to back down the ladder, retrieving her goggles from the floor.

RYGEL:
Uh, where will you be?

AERYN:
I'll be somewhere else.

RYGEL:
Oh, we work better as a team!

AERYN:
Well, you didn't need any help when you were knifing the Charrid.

RYGEL:
This is different, I'm unprotected here! What happens if they fire in a mortar shell?

AERYN:
That's simple: you'll die, so keep them back.

RYGEL:
You keep them back! You're the artillery expert!

AERYN:
Tell me something, Rygel. How many Hynerians perished in the suicide attacks when they repelled the Charrids?

RYGEL:
Millions upon millions.

AERYN:
Any of them volunteer, or were they all forced?

RYGEL:
Why?

AERYN:
I'm just curious to know whether sacrifice and bravery are Hynerian concepts.

RYGEL:
( sighs ) Show me how this works again.

AERYN:
That's your reload, that's your aim, and this is your fire.

INSERT SHOT - Ext. Planet. Close on energy cannon muzzle. Cannon fires.

AERYN:
Good-bye.

Aeryn climbs down the steps, leaving Rygel alone. He looks at the controls and whimpers a bit.

CUT TO - INT. Furlow's. John takes some notes on the phase stablizer in his makeshift notebook, sharing table space at one corner with his big frelling long gun.

JACK:
You still don't understand how dangerous this technology can be? A wormhole isn't just a shortcut through space, it can be turned into a weapon of incredible destruction.

JOHN:
And we can't let the Scarrans have that kind of power.

FURLOW:
Okay, so we, ah, turn around and sell it to the Peacekeepers. Maybe the Nebari, too. Balance of power, and we... clean up.

JACK:
The potential for distaster is too great. The danger is clear.

FURLOW:
It isn't clear to me.

Furlow whips a gun out from ... somewhere [ and hey, easy trivia! It's Teurac's triangle gun from LGM2&3! ], aiming it at Jack. Without a seconds lapse, John has his rifle trained on her.

FURLOW:
You know, I think... all this high-minded talk is a pile of dren. And you're just tryin' to take out a competitor.

JACK:
I speak the truth.

FURLOW:
Oh yeah? And why should I believe you? Where do you get all this cosmic knowledge? Who are you to tell me what I should do?

Closeup on Jack as he 'morphs' to a much more alien appearance. [ cool CGI moment which I'm not even going to attempt to describe ]

FURLOW:
( shocked, scared, surprised ) What the frell? Who are you?

ALIEN:
Someone who understands the risks of power. Do you, Furlow?

Closeup on the alien as he morphs back to the image of John's father.

JACK:
Do you understand the future you're about to create? Are you willing to see entire planets and entire civilizations wiped out?

Furlow keeps her weapon on him, but she's scared witless.

JACK:
Put your weapon down.

Jack moves closer, even though Furlow isn't lowering her weapon.

JACK:
Put it down... now.

Jack reaches out and takes the gun from an unresisting Furlow, although she never lowered it.

JACK:
Aeryn, you have explosives in your pack?

AERYN:
Yes.

JACK:
Set them.

Aeryn nods and heads out again [ she's the amazing errand girl in this ep ]. Jack returns to doing whatever he was doing before, while Furlow shoots a fearful query to John.

FURLOW:
He, ah... that alien... why didn't you tell me?

JOHN:
I think I did.

FURLOW:
Fair enough.

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. In the workroom, Aeryn goes about setting grenades here and there, including two on the module.

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. In the workroom with John, Furlow and Jack. John and Furlow stand off to the side, while Furlow rambles on a bit, her normal cool detachment almost evaporated, she's definately nervous.

FURLOW:
You know, this, this really isn't necessary. We could, uh, just beat it before the Dreadnought gets here. You, me...

John moves away, back toward the worktable, long gun hanging from his hand again.

FURLOW:
... in the module, down the wormhole. Sell the technology. Uh, only to, uh, peaceful races of course.

John turns, looking down on her coldly.

JOHN:
And what about the others?

FURLOW:
Well... same thing happens whether we're here or not. Listen, the Scarrans aren't gonna leave anybody breathing. No reason for all of us to die.

Furlow's nervous plan making is interrupted as John notes an odd bleeping noise building from some equipment in the corner.

JOHN:
What's with your computer?

FURLOW:
Somebody's tapped in.

Furlow and Jack move closer to it, examining it closely.

FURLOW:
( sighs ) They're stealing all my data.

JACK:
Shut it down!

FURLOW:
I can't. They've got full control.

AERYN:
Stand clear. Now.

Furlow and Jack duck for cover as Aeryn and John lift big guns and blow Furlow's computer to bits. [ This is where we can see John's gun is bigger than Aeryn's big gun... LOL. Plus, his makes that cool sfx from Duke Nuke'm. LOL. Beauty shot! ]

JACK:
Who tapped in?

FURLOW:
A remote download, overrode all my passcodes. Charrids are too stupid for that. Had to be Scarrans.

JOHN:
How much data did they get?

FURLOW:
Oh, enough to make their own phase stablizer. But the Dreadnought will still get here. They'll want to make sure that nobody else gets the prototype, and... what's in here ( taps her head ). And, ah... ( leans in close to John ) you know that thing we were talkin' about earlier? It's lookin' even better now.

JACK:
We need to destroy that data.

FURLOW:
Are you payin' attention? 'Cause, it's too late. The data is on the Dreadnought now.

JACK:
Exactly. Therefore we need to destroy the Dreadnought.

AERYN:
There isn't anything on this planet that would even get it's attention!

Jack exits, carrying the prototype stabilizer. John follows him out after placing a staying hand on Aeryn's arm, even as she raises her voice so Jack will be sure to hear to final words. As the boys depart, Aeryn turns to Furlow.

AERYN:
What thing you were talking about earlier?

FURLOW:
Oh, nothing.

Furlow turns about and makes an exit as well, close on Aeryn with John's query O.V.

JOHN:
[O.V.] You got a plan?

CUT TO - INT. Corridor, Furlow's. Jack carries the prototype down the semi-dark corridor, John at his side. [ makes you wonder what all the carrying around is about. ]

JACK:
Yes... something the Ancients wouldn't permit. Their sanctuary's under threat. I believe we can convert this phase stabilizer to another function.

JOHN:
We?

JACK:
Yes, your knowledge of this level of technology is greater than mine. Alone, I'd never be able to complete the modifications in time.

Returning to the workshop with the module, Jack places the stabilizer back on a table beside it.

JOHN:
Except, I don't know how this thing works, much less how to modify it. I won't be much help.

JACK:
Yes, you will. During our last encounter the ancients embedded something else deep within your memory. The equations to create wormholes. It wasn't meant to be accessed consciously, but merely to guide you.

Walking slowly around the table, John turns slowly to face 'Jack', his one free hand moving to cradle the long gun. [ tempting, ain't it, John? ]

JOHN:
Guide me? Why not just give it to me?

JACK:
Because it was important that you develop it on your own... or else not at all.

JOHN:
Is that some sorta rule? Only hints, otherwise it's cheating?

[ Love the atmosphere. God, he is pissed, I can almost see the steam rising. This is a dangerous calm. ]

JACK:
There were Ancients who didn't want to give you anything. This knowledge is very dangerous.

JOHN:
Yeah, I know... so give me the useless consolation prize.

JACK:
No, not useless. It was meant to keep you on the right path. Possibly subtracting years from your research.

JOHN:
"Possibly". Well... thanks for the help.

JACK:
John, this knowledge may save all of our lives here. I can unlock it.

JOHN:
And what will your friends think about that?

JACK:
They'd stop me if they could. If they knew what you and I were creating here, they'd kill us both.

JOHN:
That's terrific. Jack, I already got half the universe after me, I really want the Ancients on my ass as well.

JACK:
We don't have a choice. That Dreadnought is less than 5 hours from here. I need your expert help, if you're unwilling to give it...

JOHN:
I didn't say... I wouldn't help.

JACK:
Good.

Jack exits, leaving John staring coldly at an empty space. He hefts the rifle to ready and follows him.

CUT TO - STOCK CGI. [ how soon we re-use, heh ] Dreadnought cruising through space with escort. [ Hey, I'm thinking we're gonna see that CGI shot I couldn't identify from SnS in Part 2. ]

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. John enters the workroom where Aeryn and Furlow are lingering. As he passes Furlow, he grabs her arm, towing her back toward the work table.

JACK:
Furlow, get me all the tools and components that you have. I need wave-guides, circuitry, anything.

FURLOW:
It would help if I knew what you were making.

JACK:
I also need some nuclear fuel-- tenth of a mallot of partanium isotope would do it.

FURLOW:
( sighs ) Coming right up.

Furlow heads out to the quick stop to pick up some nuclear fuel. John enters, putting the long gun down, he leans against the table

JOHN:
Jack... I have a... confession to make. I knew about the stuff you guys put in my head.

JACK:
How?

JOHN:
Guy named Scorpius. He discovered the info was there, and he put a neural chip in my head to extract the information.

JACK:
And he succeeded?

JOHN:
Well, the chips gone, so I'd say, yes-- more or less.

JACK:
Why didn't you tell me?

It's a bit of a struggle for him to tell this part of the story, Aeryn moves in from across the room to stand beside him. That detachment in his eyes drifts away in favor of a bit of cold fear.

JOHN:
All right... there's more. When the chip was pulled, a... chunk of Scorpius's personality was left behind.

JACK:
A neural clone?

JOHN:
You could call it that. I call it, ah... Harvey.

JACK:
Then we can't unlock the information in front of this clone.

JOHN:
So, what do you wanna do?

JACK:
My mental energy is limited. But, I believe between the two of us... we can drive this clone from your mind.

JOHN:
Could you say that with a little more confidence?

JACK:
I don't know how strong this clone is...

Interrupted by the flare and explosion of a blast, camera cuts from the three gathered around the table to the far wall as it is blown inward, then cutting back to the trio around the table. Closest to the blast, his back to the wall, John flinches from the noise and then drops to the ground, out cold.

Charrids pour through the breach in the wall and Aeryn cuts them down one by one. Camera cuts to close on John, out cold on his side.

CUT TO - Theater of the Mind; Amusement Park Camera zooms to close on John wearing PK leathers & coat, standing beside Scorpius in his red racing duds. They're standing outside the entrance to 'Funny Land' at 'Coney Island', as the building behind proclaims. Camera zooms in on the shot in a rapid series of three very disorienting shots before remaining close on the mind-sharing duo.

SCORPIUS:
( echoing ) Before you rejoin them, John, we must speak. You cannot be seriously considering my removal.

JOHN:
Yes, I can.

SCORPIUS:
I've had time to acclimate myself to your brain. To permeate every facet of your mind. I will not go easily!

JOHN:
( mildly ) Are you...

He plucks a bit of lint off of Scorpy's racing duds.

JOHN:
... threatening me?

SCORPIUS:
I warn you, John, if you attempt this... I will fight you, and I will win! If your brain really isn't big enough for the both of us, either I'll survive... or neither of us will.

JOHN:
Harvey... kiss my medulla oblongata.

SCORPIUS:
You think I'm bluffing?

Scorpius grabs John by the shoulders, snarling viciously.

SCORPIUS:
Do you want to die?!

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. Aeryn continues mowing down the invading Charrids. Furlow pops up beside her.

FURLOW:
What the frell...?!

Retrieving something from the table, Furlow tosses it up and bats it toward the wall with her big frelling wrench. Another terrific explosion seals the breach.

FURLOW:
( shouting ) We're closed, ya thoddoes!

Aeryn kneels beside John, still out cold on the ground.

AERYN:
John?

Lifting his head into her arms she peels back an eyelid, the invasion of light brings him around a bit. His other eyelid opens and his eyes roll about a bit, reorienting himself.

AERYN:
Are you all right? John?

His eyes focus on her, but his voice is weak and disoriented.

JOHN:
Yeah... um, fine.

Fade out on close of John and Aeryn.

END ACT III

ACT IV

INT. Furlows

John and Aeryn shove a couple of big frelling crates against the weakened part of the wall.

JOHN:
I don't see a lot of choice. Harvey's gotta go.

Aeryn moves to Jack, John following her.

AERYN:
And you can do this, Jack?

JACK:
I can infuse him with all the mental capacity that I possess.

AERYN:
Which you admit is limited.

Close on lovely three shot, Aeryn facing Jack, John standing 'between' them.

JOHN:
We take what we can get.

AERYN:
Is there some way to transfer energy? Can you... link his mind with mine?

JACK:
No. Aeryn Sun, John already has your strength.

JOHN:
And someone's gotta stay on the outside in case everything goes pear-shaped. ^

AERYN:
I know what to do.

CUT TO - EXT. Planet. Rygel's blasting away at the charging Charrids. Sitting at the controls of the cannon, he doesn't look a bit 'Luke Skywalker'ish'.

RYGEL:
Hey! Anybody there?!

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. All look up at Rygel's comm'd interruption.

CUT TO - EXT. Planet.

RYGEL:
I've scored nine direct hits! But that Charrids aren't getting the message. They're getting closer, and I'm running out of ammo!

CUT TO - INT. Furlows.

AERYN:
All right. I'll get you some.

CUT TO - EXT. Planet. Rygel blasts some more Charrids, with the cannon too.

RYGEL:
Frelling Charrids!

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. Aeryn moves her long gun off her backpack and slings it over her shoulder. Shooting a worried glance at John and Jack before departing.

AERYN:
Just don't... start anything until I get back.

[ Errand girl to the rescue! Hey, Furlow's errand girl too! ] Furlow enters, depositing a heavy looking silver case on the table.

FURLOW:
( grunting ) Here's your partanium. Trouble is, I don't know if I can scrape up a protection suit.

JACK:
I don't need one.

FURLOW:
No kiddin'. ( aside to John ) Imagine if he was on our side.

JOHN:
He is on our side.

FURLOW:
Uh-huh.

JACK:
What I will need is a focused trans-emitter coil so that I can maximize the power output.

FURLOW:
Boy, you don't want much do ya? Hope you're not in a hurry.

Furlow heads out, tool belt clanking.

JOHN:
We're in a hurry.

FURLOW:
I'll do my best.

CUT TO - EXT. Space. Talyn hanging in space, the day/night shadow on the planet below drifts completely out of frame as Talyn moves fully into the planet's shadow.

STARK:
[O.V.] Are you sure you don't want help?

CRAIS:
[O.V.] I don't need your help!

CUT TO - INT. Talyn, the bridge. Crais and Stark stagger around as Talyn lurches and rolls, Stark 'steering' Crais as best he can.

CRAIS:
Talyn, can you hear me?

STARK:
Nothing's happening! Well, apart from the tossing and turning.

[ LOL! Okay, well, second laugh then! hehehehe Crais and Stark make a better comic duo than Rygel and Stark. Hey, Rygel and Crais make a better comic duo as well! ]

CRAIS:
He's overcompensating for his maneuvers because he can't tell what's going on. I-I'll have to take over.

STARK:
Oh!

Crais fumbles across several consoles.

STARK:
What are you looking for?!

CRAIS:
( impatiently ) Manual overide!

Stark forcibly places Crais's hands on the correct controls.

STARK:
Here!

CRAIS:
Talyn, I am taking control. I will keep you stable so you can calm down and heal your senses.

STARK:
It's working, I think. It's working, working!

CRAIS:
Is the navigation console responding?

STARK:
No, but I'm feeling better.

[ LOL! I must be drunk or something, that's the third time I laughed! ]

CRAIS:
Something doesn't feel right. Must be the... must be the docking control...

[ docking control! ]

STARK:
It looks all right.

CRAIS:
Try the comms again. Boost Talyn's signal to maximum.

STARK:
Aeryn? Crichton? Can you hear me?

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. Aeryn on the level risers again, heading up.

AERYN:
Stark? Is that you?

STARK:
( over comms ) We're trying to take control of Talyn...

CUT TO - INT. Talyn, the bridge.

STARK:
...he's still blind, but... at least he's calm.

CUT TO - INT. Furlows.

AERYN:
Can he fight? Stark?

CUT TO - INT. Talyn, the bridge.

AERYN:
( static ) Can you hear me?

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. Aeryn breaks into a jog, comms broken.

AERYN:
Frell.

CUT TO - INT. Talyn, the bridge. Talyn continues to roll unsteadily, Crais still completely blind, as Talyn is.

CUT TO - EXT. Planet. Out in the open, Aeryn takes out two Charrids with one shot of her pulse pistol [ Nice 'John move' from ...DD. So, uh, she forgot to bring the rifle? ].

Rygel continues picking off Charrids with the pulse cannon. Nice flying through the air shots with the ornately helmed Charrids.

RYGEL:
[O.V.] About time!

CUT TO - INT. Gun Turret.

AERYN:
You let two through.

RYGEL:
Two? But I turned at least 12 of them to sand stains.

CUT TO - EXT. Planet. A Charrid drives an interesting looking vehicle [ think 'Road Warrior' ] into the shot, driving past the remains of the stone pillars.

RYGEL:
[O.V.] Ah-ha! Here comes number 13!

Cannon fires and misses, barely, water splashing up from the edge of the shallow pool, the vehicle disappearing over the low ridge.

CUT TO - INT. Gun Turret. Aeryn unpacks the reloads from her backpack.

RYGEL:
Oh, miscalculated the windage. Next time I'll get him. Did I ever tell you about Rygel the 9th?

AERYN:
No.

RYGEL:
( laughs ) Single-handedly led the climactic charge at the battle of Katreen.

AERYN:
He was a hero?

RYGEL:
He was a moron! Dominars are far too valuable for combat, much less front-lines. But... you know, strangely enough... I think I understand why he did it!

Rygel turns at the sound of an engine.

CUT TO - EXT. Planet. The odd car makes another appearance over the sand dune.

RYGEL:
[O.V.] Ah, ha, ha! Second try!

Cannon fires, and the driver goes flying accompanied by Rygel's demented laughter.

CUT TO - INT. Gun Turret.

RYGEL:
Taste this, bloodsucker!

AERYN:
We'll make a soldier out of you yet, Rygel.

RYGEL:
Well, don't think I'm gonna make a habit of it. Hmm. Now!

Cannon fires.

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. Aeryn runs into the workroom, [ almost as if she thought they might not wait for her] stopping in front of John. They both have fearful looks in their eyes.

JOHN:
( softly ) It's time.

She nods, looking down as John hands her Winona. Cut to close on John, then Aeryn, then closeup on both as they kiss. Shot widens to long, only their lips touching, Aeryn's hand on his chest. [ but he's not touching her, strangely enough ]. Cut to close-up again as the kiss breaks, he strokes his nose gently across hers as he pulls away, prolonging the contact. [ They aren't saying goodbye, again, but both know it might be that. ]

Stepping backward, moving away from her, making room for Jack as he approaches, standing between them.

With no further words, Jack lifts his hand. As his palm becomes level with his 'sons' face, John's head snaps back forcefully. A flash of brilliant white light...

CUT TO - Theater of the Mind; Amusement park. Shot is on the nose of a rollercoaster, the tracks racing in front of us, then cuts to John and Scorpy sitting in the front seat, shoulder restraints down, holding them both in the car.

JOHN:
Buckle up Scorp, we're goin' for a little ride.

SCORPIUS:
You don't have to do this, John. I, I pose you no threat.

JOHN:
Right.

SCORPIUS:
I happen to know, that the wormhole knowledge is still inside your brain... but I don't want it!

JOHN:
Your better half does.

SCORPIUS:
Well, he has a copy. But whether he knows how to make use of it... is not my concern! Therefore... there's no reason to get rid of me.

JOHN:
Yeah, there is.

SCORPIUS:
No, it's the truth, John. I don't want to overtake you. I'm happy to... coexist.

JOHN:
I'm not!

The car is nearing the top of the highest drop, Scorp shoots it a very funny nervous look.

SCORPIUS:
Oh, stop this, John. I've helped you countless times. I've even saved your life!

JOHN:
To save yourself. You don't get brownie points for that Scorp.

[ ooooh, the 'fun' part of the ride is over, and it's about to get scary. Scorpy is 'terrified'! I don't blame him! ] Scorpy shouts fearfully over the noise of the decending ride and the rush of wind.

SCORPIUS:
Oh, but I can help you now! That alien-- he's using you! And after you've done his dirty work for him, he will terminate you, Furlow, Rygel, Stark, Aeryn...

JOHN:
Do not play the Aeryn card, Scorp, you killed her!

SCORPIUS:
Aeryn is alive!

JOHN:
Now Zhaan's gone, who do I thank for that?!

SCORPIUS:
( fearfully ) Oh! Stop this, John! Or we'll both die!

Oh, geez, ride enters first leg of a 360 vertical loop.

JOHN:
How can you die Scorp, when you're not even real?!

SCORPIUS:
( babbling fearfully ) Oh, I can feel it, I can feel it, we're both going to die! We're both going to die!

JOHN:
Can you feel it?! Why should I care?!

SCORPIUS:
Because I am part of you, John!

JOHN:
Yeah, I know! And I'm sick of it!

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. Close-up on John, Jack's hand still raised before it. John's body shudders heavily under some unseen assault, his eyes rolled so far back in his head the irises are almost invisible.

Cut to close on Aeryn's very fearful look.

AERYN:
John, what's happening?

Cut to close on Jack, also feeling the struggle and doing a very passable though transient 'Crichton quirk' facial tic that transits to blank slightly surprised expression [ hopes hinge on that little tic ]. Cut to close profile on John, he looks god-awful as the struggle continues. Cut to Aeryn, probably more worried than me.

AERYN:
John?

Cut to close on John, irises takin' a little vacation. Man, is he gonna be sore in the morning.

CUT TO - Theater of the Mind; Amusement Park. Close on Scorpy clinging to a familiar looking black clad leg. Scorpy pants fearfully, shooting a wide eye downward. Shot cuts to extreme long, showing two distant figures dangling from the heights of the rollercoaster. One holds the rail, the other clinging to the leg of the first. Cut to close on John, clinging to the rail with both hands, trying to shake Scorpy's grip loose without losing his own.

SCORPIUS:
Help me, John.

JOHN:
Go to hell, Scorpy! " For everything there is a season. A time to keep, and a time to cast away. "

Scorpy glances down again, and then starts 'climbing' John, coming level with his nemesis. The 'helpless' guy, replaced by the 'scary' guy. Snarling into John's face.

SCORPIUS:
I warned you!

John's grip breaks away from the rail and they both fall, screaming... directly into the vortex of a wormhole. [ God! Flight harness! Poor Ben! hehehe, okay, too much editorializing! Hush! ]

END ACT IV

TAG

INT. Furlows.

Jack and John abruptly collapse to the floor, both sprawling on their backs simultaneously. Aeryn steps over Jack's body, kneeling beside him, briefly checking him over. [ She's got a new thing for checking pupil reaction. And there are 'so' many clues in this scene, I'm just NOT gonna do it! ]

AERYN:
Jack?

Turning to John's side she checks him as well.

AERYN:
John?

Not favorably impressed by his lack of reaction, she immediately initiates rescue breathing.

CUT TO - EXT. Planet. Rygel continues his demented laughter and the decimation of the Charrid troops.

RYGEL:
( laughing ) That's it! Keep running!

Charrid goes flying!

RYGEL:
Oh! I'll give you indigestion! Charrid cowards couldn't hit a pregnant lobboth at that dist...

Two mortar rounds land at the base of the gun turret. Return fire ceases as a group of Charrids approach the entrance to the Bunker. Inside the turret, Rygel sits gasping in pain, a large shard of something protruding from his stomach, smeared with green blood. He groans in pain and falls over backward. [ I'm so 'not' falling for that again. oops. ]

CUT TO - INT. Furlows. Aeryn's rescue breathing yields result as John begins to gasp and cough, eyes fluttering as he regains consciousness. Aeryn lifts his head slightly as his eyes fix on her worried face. He gives her a delighted smile. But, the 'wrong' voice comes from his lips.

SCORPIUS:
Officer Sun...

Cut to close on her absolutely crushed expression... [ Okay, it went pear-shaped, frell it! ]

SCORPIUS:
[O.V.] What lucious lips...

Cut to close on John's detached, slightly amused expression.

SCORPIUS:
... amongst... other things.

His left hand shoots out, clutching her throat in a powerful grip. She chokes but doesn't struggle against his grip. Cut to close on John, that blandly amused expression never leaving his face.

SCORPIUS:
Crichton was... a lucky man.

And now a very clever pan to Aeryn's out of focus back [ you know, costume change ].

Cut to close on Aeryn, John's hand still wrapped around her throat, her voice choked, tears collecting in her eyes.

AERYN:
Where is he?

Cut to Scorpius, still stretched out on his back under Aeryn, but now decked out in full-Scorpy mode [ thank god ].

SCORPIUS:
Gone. Gambled and lost. How unfortunate you must lose as well.

Close-up on Aeryn's grim expression, eyes filled with tears. Cut to med shot, Aeryn crouched over 'Scorpius', whose hand is still wrapped around her neck. 'Jack' in foreground, empty left hand raised. Aeryn's hand reaches back quickly, unholstering her weapon and pressing it firmly against Scorpy's forehead.

Cut to close-up on Aeryn, a single tear prepares to fall.

Cut to close-up on Scorpius, pistol muzzle pressed to his forehead, his expression bland and mildly curious. He's interested to see how this will come out.

SCORPIUS:
Oh...

He smiles slightly as shot cuts back to closeup on Aeryn, that single tear suspended from her left eye, trembling as it prepares to fall. Freeze on close-up.
