Okay, you all must remember the 'Fluffy Doll'?! I know that 30d954A, claiming victory in the first two rounds, and DenAstrogeek and Shipscat, splitting the prize for Round 3 may all recall them. For the rest... here's the definition of same.
The CMT Round 4 Winner also recieves a 'virtual trophy' of course, and a 'position of honor' on the CMT Round Archive Page. As soon as I create and post it of course! And geez, it's only been a year pending! Help!!!!

April 16, 2002 - CMT Round 4 Updates Complete, Winner Announced!
Yep, that's right players. The BBQ finally got it in gear, scored the final game, tallied all the points, and announced the winner. *Whew*
Without a further 'legitimate' drought in sight... CHAINMALE TRIVIA is hitting the indefinate hiatus road. Thanks for playing all. We had tons of fun!February 17, 2002 - CMT Round 4 Updates Complete!
Yep, a long time in coming, but the BBQ finally updated Round 4. Decreed winner of the Vegas game was inky, who whumped everyone fairly severely. BBQ had to take a lot of editorial advice on the questions, so next year- tougher game - gonna have to be on the ball for CMT Live 2002! Inky declined a Fluffy Doll- but the BBQ gave the inkster some cool stuff anyhoo.
Winner of Crichton Chronicles was "Shipscat", soundly trouncing all comers. Ships has been escorted to the Fluffy Doll vault to make her selection. Congrats, Ships.
Round 4 of CMT will recommence in early March, tentatively scheduled for Game 15, of Round 4 to kick off on Friday, March 8, 2002. Should give us 4 weeks and 12 games to finish off Round 4. Still gotta do the Round 4 tally, see how the scores are shaking out. Check the Current Standings list for the update.
November 19, 2001 - CMT LIVE goes to Vegas!
Ally and friends are headin' to Vegas come December 14th for a little Farscapian Adventure. Gonna have a meet 'n greet with fellow Farscape Fans and take the opportunity to obsess over Farscape in that special CMT kinda way. This time around the BBQ is providing the entire Q&A ala Trivial Pursuittm.
Game play description and special rules as well as prize selections for the Vegas Live CMT Master to be posted in a little while. I'll also post a list of gamers planning to attend as they 'sign-in'. I need at least another 6 players to make the game rock. Questions vary in difficulty from "ME! ME!", to "y-you, uh, what!?!", so don't be shy!
"Crichton Chronicles"
Remains scheduled for December 10, 2001, and will be played through a scheduled ending date (tbd). This will be a 'stand alone game', a round unto itself. All CMT rules apply, as well as special rules for the game as normal.
CMT Round 4 Suspended
Due to the news of the gigantic drought, which is not really a drought at all; extending the game between Episode 18 and 19 to six, count 'em, six... that's SIX (6) months, from the air date of ep 18 "Fractures" (August 24, 2001) to ep 19, tentatively titled "What? You're still here?" (them's the jokes, folks), scheduled to air on March 19, 2002. Making the drought, technically, 6 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days long. However, since it looks as though Farscape will be in repeat broadcast mode throughout, makes it hard to suffer properly.
September 17, 2001: Rules Revision 4.1 posted.
September 10, 2001: Rock 'N Rules for Round 4 posted below. After much rooting around in the BBQ's Farscape Goodie Bag, the Fluffy Doll Award Choices for Round 4 'partially' posted. See below.
September 8, 2001: Well, geez, hasn't been too long since the last update! LOL. CHAINMAIL TRIVIA: ROUND 4 - "Crichton Strikes Back!" kicks off on Wednesday, September 12, 2001. Updates to this page and the index page coming soon!
April 28, 2001: Game 3 of Round 3 closed out tonight. Current game standings posted below. Game 4 of Round 3 will go up between 6 and 7PM PST, on Wednesday, May 2, 2001.
April 26, 2001: Game 1 of Round 3 kicked off as scheduled. Game status updated below.
April 11, 2001: Yeah. I'm wondering when I'm gonna put some news up here too... hmmm... given that the annual May sweeps drought period begins after "Eat Me"... Lessee...
ROUND THREE BEGINS: Wednesday, April 25, 2001! April 15, 2001: Rule Revision for CMT ROUND THREE posted. Reminder posts will start doing up on the bulletin board soon, as we only have one ep remaining before the May Sweeps drought period. Though, I, for one, won't be sorry to see the LGM trilogy air instead of typically awful movies!
February 8, 2001: The Second Round of Farscape CHAINMALE TRIVIA kicked off on Wednesday, February 7, 2001. Delay due completely to the complexities of life. :) Apologies to all players who enjoy playin' the game. I try to avoid undue delays as much as possible. :) Standings from Game 1 of Round 2 appear below.
January 18, 2001: The SECOND Round of Farscape CHAINMALE TRIVIA, kicks off on Wednesday, January 31, 2001, and continues Wednesdays through Saturdays, until the beginning of Season III (Which, history tells us, should be the second or third Friday in March 2001! -- a short drought indeed!). For more about what exactly the frell IS Chainmale Trivia... just scroll down the page for the official rules! :) During Round II, trivia Q&A is open for all episodes of Season I and II!
January 6, 2001: The FINAL game of CHAINMALE TRIVIA-- ROUND I closed on Friday morning, January 5, 2001. Final Standings for the first round appear below. Congratulations to the winner. Check out the final words on CMT Round I!
Greetings & Welcome to the official home of CHAINMALE TRIVIA, a Farscape Trivia Game.
FARSCAPE CHAINMALE TRIVIA!
This section is in place for NEW PLAYERS to acquaint themselves with the game.
Make no mistake! This game is open to anyone and everyone with an obsession for Farscape and Farscape Trivia! The insane MUST cling together for support! LOL!
The game is played at the Farscape Bulletin Board Discussion group at the SciFi Channel Website. You can get to the discussion group bulletin board by going to the SciFi Farscape website or, just go DIRECTLY to the Bulletin Board. You can also view current and past game links on the CMT Game Index.
Once you're at the Bulletin Board, look for the discussion thread titled: CHAINMALE TRIVIA Or just go to the CMT GAME INDEX page, and click in on the active link for the game currently underway!
But, well... it does tend to get a little more complicated, but not by much. The guidelines for the game follow: CHAINMALE TRIVIA GAME RULES
The rules are pretty simple:
Post an answer ~~ Post a Question.
The Q&A drawn from aired episodes only.
Anything that can be 'seen' on the screen is trivia fodder!
There ya go!
It can't get much simpler than that! :)
CHAINMALE TRIVIA IS A DROUGHT GAME. For the uninitiated, 'drought' is a term used by Scapers to describe those times when one of the twenty-two episodes of the current season are NOT airing. Given that there at 52 weeks in a year, this can lead to a LOT of 'downtime'.
Traditional 'drought' periods for Farscape include 6 week periods over both the February and May network 'Sweeps', as well as a long (almost unbearably long) drought between episode 18 and 19 for each season. Episode 18 usually airs mid to late August, to the first Friday in January. ( ARG!! )
GAME POSTING SCHEDULE:
CHAINMALE TRIVIA games typically last 24 hours; opening between 7 to 8PM Pacific Standard Time, and closing at about the same time the following day. During the drought we play two to three times weekly at minimum. Check the individual game posts "CHAINMALE TRIVIA: ROCK 'N RULES" post to determine what days of the week the game is running.
At the end of each game, the Mad Trivia Hostess will post a Q&A summary of each game, along with a tally of points. Usually one point per correct question.
The Game Hostess (that'd be moi) reserves the right to permanently close the current round at any time without awarding the Fluffy Doll Prize for the Round. If the round is closed temporarily, a tentative return date will be provided. If the game proceeds in a orderly fashion to the expected end of the round, the fluffy doll award choice will be given to the player with the greatest amount of points as determined by the hostess.
GAME ARCHIVING: The Mad Trivia Hostess maintains a links page to each game's Q&A Summary at the Official CHAINMALE TRIVIA website. You can find the links at CMT GAME INDEX LIST
The Nitty Gritty: GAME RULES
CHAINMALE TRIVIA :: A ONE FOR ONE TRIVIA EXTRAVAGANZA!
All you gotta do to play, besides having an unhealthy appetite for Farscape Trivia, is follow the fairly generalized guidelines that follow.
To play... click into the game and read the final trivia question posted. If you know the answer... great! Give it!
BUT... and here's the tricky part... if you give an answer, you GOTTA post a NEW question to replace the question answered.
This is where our little game get's it's name! :)
Follow me so far?
Okay then... the next person answers the last person's question... and then THEY post a NEW question to replace the one answered! And on and on and on… Got it? (omg! I just heard Chiana in my head!)
So, basically, all you do is read the posted question(s) in order. If you know the answer, and want to give it, you have to give the answer AND add a NEW trivia question yourself! ohhh, the challenge!
SPECIAL FORMS TRIVIA
"CLUE" TRIVIA: Trivia form coined by CMT player, I think it was 30d954A. When player asks: "In clue form: who killed _name_". The question answerer MUST pose their answer as if solving the puzzle in the game CLUE. (i.e.; to answer "In clue form: Who killed Br'Nee?", the question answerer MUST answer: "I believe it was John, in Br'Nee's Lab, with the shrinky dink machine." is totally acceptable as correct in this case. Answering: "John". Is incorrect, in this case.
"JEOPARDY" TRIVIA: Trivia form coined by CMT player, believe it was 30d954A again. Question asker provides the answer, and question answerer must answer in the form of a question. (i.e., if "Of all Farscape eyepatch wearers, he wore his over the right eye.", is provided by questioner, question answerer must answer in the form of a question, "Who is Durka?" -- in this case answering: "Durka" would be incorrect.)
QUESTIONS IN THE WIND:Incorrectly answered questions, and questions that have not been answered in the course of the game ( because of the fast paced nature of the game, this happens a lot ) are deemed QUESTIONS IN THE WIND.
Questions in the wind are up for grabs. Multiple questions may be answered in one post for the designated points ( usually 1 ) for each 'correctly' answered question ( if you are the 'first most correct' player to answer ). Only one question need be posted to replace any and all questions taken in a single post.
The only question(s) not open to a player are your own questions. Caveat to that: If the hostess grabs your question and reposts it as an "OPEN QUESTION", please feel free to chime in with answers of your own for the point(s).
While playing, if one or more of your prior questions remain in the wind, you still MUST post a 'new' question when answering a new question.
Yeah, yeah, I know. The hostess is a ruthless Trivia Taskmistress!
Q&A ACCURACY:
Remember, precision is important in trivia!
If your question can be answered WITHOUT benefit of ep titles, PLEASE do NOT include them. This game is easy enough as it is! hehe
Also, please remember that the question you ask =might not= get the answer you had in mind, =BUT= if the answer =correctly= answers the question as it is posted, it may be selected as the "FIRST, MOST CORRECT" answer by the Game Hostess.
Occassionally, to get the answer you wanted, you'll have to rephrase your question. Remember, "The Game Hostess is a Harsh Trivia Taskmistress", and "Sorry, that's not the answer I was looking for" don't cut it if the answer is 'correct'.
This is CHAINMALE TRIVIA, not "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire!" ;)
Thoughts from the original question poster on the accuracy of any of your posted questions are encouraged and very much welcomed!
Remember, the Q&A is limited to what appears "on screen" for every aired Farscape episode. To include questions on Credits.
Questions regarding the 'meaning' of dialogue or action or identification of show UO's (Unidentified Objects), while facinating for debate and discussion, and highly encouraged within the confines of the game; but are =NOT= based on established show facts as defined by the episode(s) as aired, are NOT valid questions for points in CHAINMALE TRIVIA.
However, this game is not just for Trivia! Farscape discussion is welcome encouraged. I just LOVE readin' that stuff.
Please, please make sure your Q&A for the game 'stands out' from the discussion though. Can't tell you the number of points I've missed 'cause the Q&A was buried in a paragraph or two of discussion. :)
The Hostess reserves the right to 'verify' any and all Q&A... and usually does. :)
Points in the game are awarded solely by the Hostess, although based on the difficulty of your question, if the question poster feels the question deserves "Open Question" status, or additional points, you are highly encouraged to indicate so in your post.
The Hostess is a Harsh Trivia Taskmistress, but is also fairly flexible. ;)
GUIDELINES FOR SCORING CMT:
1. For 'regular trivia', one point is earned for each correctly answered trivia question (as judged by the hostess) 'First' 'Best' answer normally getting the point! Additional points are available in FARSCAPE SPECIAL or OPEN QUESTION trivia posted by the Hostess. The point value of each FARSCAPE SPECIAL or OPEN QUESTION are posted with the question.
2. Precision is 'important' (this IS trivia, after all! :)
3. Watch-out for ‘key words’ in the question. They can often lead you to the correct answer. The questioner may sometimes get a little tricky (I know I can be too clever for my own good in my attempts to lead you astray! )
4. IF the question poster asks for a “quote”, an EXACT quote is needed for the point. Otherwise first most correct response with “words to that effect” gets the point.
5. IF the question poster uses word/words like "tell" or "tells", a general descriptive response is good for the point.
6. Question uses word/words like, "what happens/happened when...?" A general descriptive response is good for the point.
7. REPEAT TRIVIA: No points are earned for answering Trivia if the 'replacement question' is a trivia question is a repeat from the CURRENT ROUND. No points are earned for answering trivia questions repeated from the CURRENT ROUND. The Game Host has final determination if a question repeats a question already posted/answered within CURRENT ROUND. Q&A from prior rounds are available for the Q&A in the current round.
The 'repeat' rule is occassionally suspended by the hostess for special games such as "Crichton Chronicles", "Aeryn Sun Times", and "Luxan Lore", and normally following the 20th sequential game within a round. Suspension of the repeater rule within normal play of a round will be posted as a "REPEATER RULE SUSPENDED n/t" post at the beginning of a new game.
8. POINTS NOT AWARDED: Points are, of course, not awarded for incorrect answers, but if you're 'positive you are correct', just email the hostess. She's usually open to discussion and/or correction of the tally after verification, although points are NOT deleted from a players score once awarded.
Oh, and hey, if you answer, but don’t give a question (or post a repeater)… that would be counted as an ‘incorrect’ response, and next player can grab what would have been your points. Exercise caution!
9. The Game Mistress is a Harsh Trivia Taskmaster!
Did I say that already?
All Answer’s are judged for accuracy by your lovely game host (that’d be ‘moi’).
At the end of each CHAINMALE TRIVIA ROUND, the player with the MOST POINTS will be awarded the "Fluffy Doll". Check out the current list at the top of the page for more details on the "Fluffy Doll" for the Current Round.
CMT SPECIAL: STUMP THE BBQ!Okay, here's the deal:
This is an op for the BBQ to have some fun whilst moderating the game, and a chance for the players to challenge your ever lovin' hostess for some extra points.
The BBQ will take ONE special at a time, so's not to inundate the game with dozens of STBBQ questions.
Once the pending question's answer is posted, a new STBBQ question may be posted.
Accruing points from STBBQ questions.
1. All standard game rules apply. Questions posted MUST be answerable by viewing aired ep(s) of Farscape. As always, speculation is not admissable as fact in CHAINMALE TRIVIA.
2. 30 points for stumping the BBQ with a question answerable by viewing a SINGLE episode of Farscape.
3. 15 points for stumping the BBQ with a question only answerable by viewing multiple eps of Farscape.
4. Failing to stump the BBQ will accrue a 15 point penalty for the question poser. And, "yes", it is possible to have a negative number as a score.
5. Multi-part questions, requiring multiple answers are limited to 10 parts. The BBQ does NOT wish to spend the entire round researching a single question. Essentially, this rule is to limit the "How many times?" sort of questions to realistic proportions.
6. Make your subject line: STUMP THE BBQ. Or some variation to identify it as a Special. Specials posted while a STBBQ question is pending will be summarily ignored. hehe.
7. As with ALL CMT questions, the BBQ reserves the right to vary the number of points awarded for any question. Minimum is always 1 point. Maximum...? The BBQ don't think we've hit it yet. :)
8. Time limit. Uh... the BBQ hasn't decided, so for now, it's unlimited. ;)
That's the bare basics of this Special for CHAINMALE TRIVIA. The BBQ only just thought of it last night in a dream, so rules for STUMPIN' THE BBQ may vary. And now I think I'M confused! Forging on!
Ok? Hard enough? Confusing Enough? Lame enough?!
It's okay! I expect this to get pretty frelled up!
That has just GOT to be part of the FUN!
Q&A about game rules? Email the host at JohnsKeedvaBBQ@thevortex.com
That's it... GO PLAY!
yum!
"Baby! This thing ROCKS!!"
