New Toys!

Alrighty, then. So, Fantastic 4, The Movie, will suck or... has sucked, whichever tense is correct, but the toys are kinda cool.

I love picking up my toys in person. It's easier to judge if they're totally cool or incredibly lame. John Crichton and Farscape, et al figures, for instance. Not fun. Pretty to look at. Not fun to play with, not unless you're good at emoting by levering your arms up and down--without your hands falling off. Sad. But, pretty to look at. I'd probably gotten them anyway, but geez, would a few more points of articulation have hurt?

To date, the only worse toys I've picked up were the Smallville figs. True, I only coveted Lex, but had I known he had barely more than a single point of articulation (not counting the brain), I may not have purchased him. Although, he's all unbearably cute leaning up against John, with Flash leaning up against him. You'd think as stiff as he is, he could stand on his own, but his poor feet are too... elegant. Of the three of them, only John can stand on his own-- another point for John, I guess.

Now I have toybiz' latest. A couple of figs from the incredibly bad FF4 movie. I usually pick up the chicks from figure collections--they normally have the fewest number in the series, but--no luck--Invisible Woman, already out of stock! And she looked COOL *pout*

I snatched up Mr. Fantastic, because he had a 'subtitle' of all things; and Thing, who is totally brawny. Thing's foot is bigger than Reed's head, which looks horribly idiotic perched on top of an elogated neck. Seriously, it's practically obscene. I swear, this is the first action figure I've ever had to have because he looked SO lame! But, seriously. 42 points of articulation! hehe "With Snap-On Bendy Attachments"! hehe *snort*

Hm. I want to take Mr. Fantastic out of the box and bend his attachments, but being a 'serious' collector, I just can't--hehe--I wonder how tall he is with all the bendy torso bits snapped on. I keel me.

I can deal

Although, it's unnecessarily complimentary, it's also kinda accurate, in a creepy way.

You Are The Wayfarer Guide
"I'll show you the way."

Your deep insight and quick wisdom never ceases to amaze those around you. You are the guiding light for many of those you know and are not afraid to help anyone else who asks. Not very many acknowledge your tremendous help and effort, but you do not mind that so much. You've seen what is in store for them, and will be there should they need your help. You enjoy people in general, but are very selective of who you let see the real you. Others see you as an enigma of sorts, a mystery that is seemingly ever changing.

feeling all productive-y

Yes, I'm doing what I swore I'd never do. I'm mixing Dynasty's. So, dude, the LINKS at Farscape Ally will all mostly be 'scape related, but my blather is going to be a mixed bag of... monkeys! Deal.

Firstly. Season 5 of Queer as Folk kicks off tonight. I must run to snag some chicken wings and ale to prep, but first, I must run in circles with girlish!glee.

OBSESSIONS: I'm obsessed with nothing (not counting sex), at the moment, although... see above. SG1 doesn't start until July, this is only good in that I have time up to rest between obsessions.

RECC PAGES: Is no one doing a 'exclusively Farscape Fiction recommendations' website? I've got nothing but dead or abandoned links. arg. I'm telling you, it takes GUTS! and ... FORTITUDE! to run a reccs page. Let's face it, among the many who think they can write, there are few who succeed, and fewer who can spell with relative success. RECC writers need a talent for pulling flowers from weeds, and dodge bricks simultaneously! Guts! Fortitude! Lots of bandaids! Who will join me?! *end fanfare*

Spooky's Library: No Smallville fanfic written just for me, wtf? Well, have to settle for the BSG fic... *drool* ... uh... rather... Such a Burden! Oh, woe is me!

Oh, dude. I totally watch BSG, but not the reruns. Once watched, it's over. What's up with that? peace out

Gah! BSG ep recaps! You crazy woman, you!

And, yes I want a banner for The Sparky's, but I need one that's only about 200 wide. Somebody hook me up.

Almost a year has passed, and it looks like Farscape Weekly is up and running again, with a new mod. I must put away my axe for now.

Finally: Stargate SG1: Season 9! Ben! Claudie! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I found feldman! *is vindicated* Ohkaaay. You just gotta admire someone who asks for filthy remarks in their comments. heh *thinks*

And now I need a 100x600 banner for Stargate (Ben and Claudie), and a 100x600 for Smallville (Michael and Tom), and another 100x600 for QaF (Brian and Sparky-er... Justin, of course!) and I'll be alllllllll set! Okay, yeah, I all get demanding now, but I am not above begging.

That is all

Click on the banner to visit her website. It's... well... I can't think of a better word: AMAZING.

So pretty!

Thank you!

Anybody who doesn't just love that. I wanna see a show of hands! hehe

Before I forget

a) excellent discussion of characerization in fic going on over in LJ land - yes, in my own LJ but a lot of authors that get recc'd here are in the discussion, and it looks like it might spread to a series of topics, so go have a look-see.

Agony! Misery! Far more painful than yours!

b) and in the meantime, speaking of good characterization in fic: go read CatherineBruce's "Swimming With Mermaids". There are very few people (I can count them on one hand that 1) write Rygel, and 2) write Rygel well. Excellent filler fic.

Swimming with Mermaids by CatherineBruce - G

Go amuse yourselves, I need to work for the rest of the day. Go on, shoo!

Sprog Wars

Tis the season for fic-a-thons. And Sprog Wars has a great deal of great fic being posted this weekend.

Check it out. Here's the link to the LJ community, which will then link to the individual stories. I haven't read them all yet, but of note:

SimplyStars - Lesser Evils - Alternate universe, and oh so NOT fluffy. Started, I believe, with a 'What If?' scenario...

Agent Rouka - Transitions - A touching look at Chi and Aeryn post PKW.

Kazbaby
- Resting in Shadows - to say anything will give away the plot.

Go forth and read!
