In A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Yeah, this place is pretty dead. I'd apologize, but, fandom drift, you know? Still alive, but this place... kinda dead. I may be reformatting in the near future, just to keep the links alive and archive the blog. I adore Farscape; have every episode and the mini on disk; watch it from time to time, but I just don't keep up anymore. Yep. Fandom drift. What can I say, it happens. The visitors this place still gets is very likely, and possibly always, due to the links provided; doorways into a fabulous fandom. If you have any links you'd like me to add--to Farscape websites, just drop a comment and I'll explore and add, if I can.

Meanwhile, I dipped my toe into the new author list for this year's Sparky's. And, fuck me, I missed voting. If you want to view the winners: clicky.pdf format. I have to admit. I still got it!

Again, it doesn't amaze me that people are writing such good fic for this fandom. It has always been my theory that, given the scope of the Universe given to us by Rockne O'Bannon, Brian Henson, David Kemper, et al, that 'Scape fanfiction could go on forever, into unlimited directions, and unseen futures.

And for what it's worth, I completely support authors who write under new pseudonyms, if simply for the relief from expectations, if not for the renewed accolades; to be judged anew, in a potentially different light. In this category, all we should be certain of, is that the story is new--and whether the author is or not; well, that's most certainly up to the author in question. But for certain, the stories should be new.

What I love about most of the new stories, in general, is their uniqueness. At least to me. Centering on characters who have not been explored to the cellular level. It's really refreshing.

All We Know of Heaven and All We Need of Hell, by Flora Stuart, and yeah, really quite good. You guys are right about that. Yes, titles are important. Sometimes that's all you are going to get to draw the reader in. And my god, FanFic dot Net. Who's the brave soul who discovered this author there?

Sublime Providence, by Loki63. The 'babycentricness' the author disclaims, may only be the focal point of the plot (anyone know?) Yeah, I love the opening paragraphs in this one. I may journey back and try to read it all, these are the things that might stop me: it's a work in progress (wip); the length is a bit intimidating; the heft of characters, both returning and original; and out to Chapter 7 by the end of December 2004. Loki, Loki, Loki... do you know what you've gotten yourself into?

Okay, I've had my say. If you want to bitch at me, please send an email, as opposed to posting complaints, 'k?
