updates on the pumpkin front
Dominar of Action got this going, and it has been a smashing pumpkins success! Check out the thread on Kansas (it points you to the threads on the FMD boards)
I knew I forgot a fic recc... kerlin pointed it out again to me. Wonderful imloco fic. Love me imloco fic. Especially for such an elegant answer to the "why did Aeryn let Scorpy on Moya" question.
RL has literally sucked the life out of me. Coming back from the Adirondack field trip (damn, I need to download those pictures) I was fighting off the beginnings of a cold (or pneumonia, as it is my nature to go head first into the worst ailments from the get go, believe me) and trying to finish an experiment and get ready for new equipment installation and finding more space to store crap in the department and prep the labs for a TV interview and get ready for lab tours and homecoming weekend... and you get the drift.
There has been some excellent fic on Kansas. Cofax has been reposting a lot of her fic... just awesome stuff. Go read it. Also been cruising Farscape Friday and the general LJ community. Good golly, there is some awesome Monster Fic in the works... a new SACoC challenge, and ... well, just go check them out.
I know some stuff is going to fall through the cracks, and I apologize.
Gotta love aeryncrichton fic. You really do. A solid writer all around, writes phenomenal J/A, and I think she has the quientescential (did I misspell that?) "The Locket" filler ever produced... it is her territory, I swear to dog. There's no other way to describe it: it's solid writing. You have to admire the war horses (no offense intended) of fan fic writing that produce fic after fic after fic with nary a misspelled word or an out of tune phrase.
Now, onto some Farscape Friday/Livejournal stuff. Hossgal does a wonderful job tackling the characters that most fic writers don't touch. Don't get me wrong, I love John and Aeryn and the fic based on their characters draws me like no other. Few people tackle the other characters, and Hossgal does it well. Very well. She had a Rygel fic that was recc'd on Uncharted Tales a while back (and for those of you looking for fic recc's from stories you might have missed, check out Uncharted Tales. Cofax put this one together... really, go check it out too).
I love this universe. I really do. I love that there is a sequel to "Honeymoon"; I like when authors delve into the politics of war and Reefrunner does that well here and in Honeymoon... at least in bringing in a foe that everyone can hate.
Unconventional pairing. Really good unconventional pairing. It's really kind of hard to wrap your mind around Unconventional Pairings when the show is so set up to be John/Aeryn... and no one flame me for saying so - I am not a J/A shipper... I'm not a shipper in general; I just like really strong writing and some of my favorite authors happens to be shippers. This story... wonderful. I can see this happening, given the circumstances presented... really really really well thought out, in character, excellent fic.
And SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Strictly Ballroom is on in like 10 minutes. Woo hoo!
Well, I need a beer. I need several. I'm going to go imbibe all evening, watching crappy and not so crappy movies, maybe throw in 3.5 (which Hebe so gratiously bought for me this week)... Who knows!
