It looks like fic recc-ing will have to wait for Saturdays... I tend to run out of time during the week to do this, and I don't want it to go by before I forget! Some beauties have popped up on Kansas, some old favorite authors and a few new ones to boot! Woo-hoo!.
TABLED FABLES by Casper F. Joke ::PG:: Gotta love CFJ's work. I really do. Working in the same sort of vein as the "5 Things..." series that a number of people have been working on, this takes the idea into a different gear. I like it. It's plausible. It's different. Read it.
Smile - J&A shippiness by scaper57 ::G/PG:: Heh heh. Brian Henson said in the commentary for "Exodus from Genesis" that CB's smile knocked his socks off (or something similar to that, as I can't remember EXACTLY what he said). Well, in this case, it knocks Crichton's socks off. High on the Ship factor. Have to smile at the images invoked.

There's a fountain of Ship-Fic and Daddy!John and Mommy!Aeryn fic over on the LJ's these days (thassalia, whitelight1 and I'm sure there are a host of others that I'm missing) -- not to mention the LGM-trading-card-porn that a few people are working on (crankygrrl) and post BT fic (rubberneck aka feldman). Whitelight posted this story first to LJ and then to Kansas. A nice look at domestic Aeryn/John in fic.. which seems to be the thing to write these days... even have my own in mind. Read it. Go read thassalia's untitled fic (it goes back to last week sometime) too... excellent Daddy!John fic.
Happy Birthday by kazbaby ::PG:: I should know better by now -- read kaz fic and want to either throw something at kaz or go cry in a corner. THis is the 'cry in a corner' fic. You've been warned.
Impulse (for Ac's stasis challenge) by shipsisiter ::PG:: A little late is better than never at all. AC posted a challenge way back when BT aired. Good challenge, lots of great answers. But I think, by far, this is my favorite. Well worth the wait for this quality of story and the way shipsister tackled it. I was particlarly drawn to the line "It matters to me." and the resulting conversation. Way to go!
New Fic: Lament by Danae Bowen ::PG:: Rygel fic. Must have more Rygel fic. Really. Hossgal has written some great Rygel fic, I've gotten some nice notes (Ally and Angel and FBF included) from my own "Remember, With Advantages". Danae Brown has done the same here. Wow. So few people/fic tackle the nobility in Rygel.
Speaking of which, I have yet to read it but I hear good things, kixxa's "The Devil You Know" is another Rygel fic to hit the boards.
What's in a Name? by GooBoo New author alert! First-timer has graced us with a great fic and it's about frelling time someone brought this up. Why do I see Aeryn as a TV-a-holic? I don't know why, other than the whole sitting and watching Sesame Street in "Kansas", but I see late night TV (or DVD watching) as something Aeryn might do if she can't sleep. Anyway.. it's a good first time story. Check it out.

Okay then, rant over.
I want to recc Fate's Gamble. I have tis beautiful series of paragraphs written about it, and I'm just so frelling frustrated right now I am not going to remember all of it! AUGH!!!!!!!!!!
So, I am doing this first in Notepad so that I can save the frelling file a few times and then post at once. moterfrellinginternetexplorerbaneofmyexistencepieceofcrapsoftware!!
Fate's Gamble. I really don't think I could give this fic justice by simply talking about it. Damn, but this is fine fic. If it doesn't win a fanfic award this year, I will eat my hat. Jules27 and ScaperRed did a phenomenal job with this one, interweaving the voices and perspectives of Aeryn and John and Aeryn again in such a tight weave it leaves the reader wanting to give these two characters a cookie, a kiss on the scrape and a hug for better times, knowing that it isn't going to do a lick of good. Sigh. What wonderful fic. Authors warn that tissues, chocolate, booze, teddy bear and security blankets will be required. They were not kidding. I made the mistake of reading Chapter 9 before walking the dog. For forty-five minutes I could not get the last paragraph OUT OF MY HEAD. Torture, I tell you! Pure and simple TORTURE.
So, without further adeu... find a comfy chair, get your comfort food ready, lock the kiddies away from you, and if you're anything like my friend Hebe, edge the computer monitor away from the wall because one minute you will be shaking it in a murderous rage, and then the next minute shoving it away as the bottom drops right out.
And, in addition, heh heh, the Fluffy Bunnies have been at it again. They've sunk their claws?, paws?, teeth (if you're a bunny of the Monty Python persuassion) into another internal challenge: More "The Locket" fic. Heh heh heh.
