damn smokey...
Want to thank everyone doing the reporting of Comic Con for us that are a day late and a dollar short (I'll be in San Diego THIS weekend for completely different reasons, but that's life)...
Casper F. Joke also has a phenomenal piece of fiction posted at Kansas. This one stands alone, and I believe all the accolades the readers have bestowed upon our intrepid writer has convinced her to continue with the story.
I love a good story that plays on one simple fact that I adore about John and Aeryn's relationship: they communicate best when no words are spoken. It may not be the most healthy way to talk to one another, or with one another, but at times - as this story shows beautifully - it's the only way to go when you want to make sure Stolen moments last as long as they can.
So, I'm away for a, ah, a while... and blogger changes everything. I'm not certain I like it, but, hey, I'm nothing if not open minded.
So, finally erupting from the fog of too much work and school and studying, to a short break before it starts all over again. Must use the time to unbury my house. Haven't read a scrap of new 'scape fic in so long I doubt we can still be called a fan. We need to read something WOW! We need something plotty and explosive and twisted. Something featuring John's underwear. heh. We'll go digging soon.
No fic reccs lately. RL has been biting my behind like there's no tomorrow... but there have been some good fics over on Kansas that deserve some mention...
"....Who Only Stand and Wait" by aeryncrichton ::PG:: Gotta love AC fic, really, you do. Man, I wish I could write Aeryn like this, and that's really all I'm gonna say about this, else I will give away too much. AC blends in a wonderful way the different pulls of emotion that Aeryn (or any parent for that matter) must go through when the partner has to leave. Fairly poignant in a time when loved ones are being sent overseas (my uncle returns next week). So, really, good story. Leaves you on your seat for quite a bit, and it is awonderful story for those of you either Harry Potter-less or want en ending that won't leave you in tears -- and no, I haven't finished Harry Potter 5 yet, SO NO ONE TELL ME THE ENDING!
I posted my own fic challenge over on Kansas (oh, and by the way, Kansas MOVED). Quick summary: how did John learn to spell the other character's names? And there have been some decent answers to the challenge. These are the ones I found particularly entertaining and worth mentioning.
"Four-Letter Words" by Kerlin ::PG-13:: I've seen variations of this particular topic, but this one I like a lot. Not that I can remember the title or the author, but a few months ago someone else wrote a story where John taught Chiana earth-slang. Heh heh. No, this story is excellent. Really. Kerlin I think is still beating herself up over it, but I still think it's good, kid.
