living in blissed out denial
Just spoke to sis. She stopped her recording of BT right at the 'yes' kiss and recorded Animal Planet over the rest of the episode.
Good golly miss molly! Te's fic reccs page has links to eight zillion different fic recc pages. Check it out. You'll never come up for air. Hm. Okay, if that list doesn't make me feel redundant, nothing will. I'd really just like the time, man!
A few other recc page links added as well: Polyamorous, 'cause you're all adults, right? And, hey, mpreg is cute!, hehe.
Chairs, Candles & Cloth Fic Reccs page. Is that a beautiful site or what? (Noted as CC&C on the links), and I adore that alphabetical author thing. The organization makes Ally's look slapdash, which, of course, it is.
Bright, Shiny Objects; a multifandom recc site as are Polyamorous and Te's site. But take a look, you'll see that long waits between new reccs is not something that only Ally perpetrates against the fandom. *g*
Still pretty intent on doing a tranny of wss3, and even after reading more than a few other thoughts on the ep, it remains one of my favs for S4. More news on the Transcript front. Finally found the full tranny of Coup by Clam that Minnie Moi sent me, way back in... well, we're not gotta say when, it's too damn embarrassing. Anyway, although the credits page isn't complete the full transcript is now posted, courtesy of Minnie Moi and that everything's eventual truism.
Since the @thevortex addy has done nothing but frell with us for the last several months, Farscape Ally is officially changing our email addy to JohnsKeedvaBBQ@yahoo.com.
Added other fic recc pages to the left side bar. Thanks to cofax for reminding us that there are other folks doing this. Navigation links to cofax and Maayan's recc pages over there (points left) under Fic Reccs.
Okay, so maybe what pushed WSS3 over the top for me was the four Scarrans in the Wonkavator. In the second, or maybe third insert shot, as they're decending to wreak havoc on Our HeroesTM, the FG L Scarran sniffs and turns toward the Scarrans in the BG (tee hee). Well, needless to say, I Bwah Ha Ha'd myself sick! hehe Ah *wipes a tear*. Farscape. It's the little things that make it all worthwhile. *sigh*
news from around the world
Well, okay. My brain…
Wow. Got close to working on a tranny for La Bomba Saturday. Got the credits down and everything. Then got distracted and ended up updating the Episode Summary Lists for air dates, production numbers and Writer/Director's. Those links added back to the Transcripts page. heh. They got dropped off at some point. Hm.
Not that I like to encourage authors to amuse me with random ramblings other than fan fiction, but hey, a good writer is a good writer whether they're writing Farscape or bitching about the weather and pets. With that in mind, added CretKid's blog to Weblog Fantastic links after spending a brief period of time chucking over her woes. Well, except the whole slipping, falling and nearly being killed by an over enthusiastic dog thing, of course. Hey, what's "reheat my bag of corn" mean? Is that a regionally specific slang term? I'm afraid its meaning is literal, and therefore afraid of what you might be doing with a hot back of corn. *g* (Oh, and hey, I have a cat who uses the bathtub as a urinal… I kinda like it.)
On a side-note. Ordinarily, I like to listen. There is less work involved. When there is a lag in the conversation we feel this intense pressure to perform, going from passive to active, and that's just… way too much work! Conservation of Energy. That's what it's all about, my pretties.
Added Kansas to the fan fiction links. Got tired of paging to them from the main board.
Wow. Um. I mean. Jesus, this is good stuff. Continuation from the short but delicious Remember, With Advantages. Man, well, ck has all those 'scape story crafting things down like a master. Characterization, check. Everyone gets something to do, check. J/A to die for, check. Well modulated prose without needless fluffyness, check, check, check. 'scape referencing that makes you feel happy or bittersweet, and think; 'I remember that', check. High-five, ck. This one's a 10.
Okay, anything I could say would be a complete and total spoiler, so let's stick to generalizations. OMG! hehe. This is some great stuff. Lovely POV, the shift is very well done. Pacing. Just incredible. Nicely done. Read. Feed the author.
Wanted
Guest fic recc'rs. Applicant(s) should be obsessed with Farscape Fan Fiction, have plenty of time to read, a good knowledge of english composition and the ability to spot a good story when it whacks applicant over the head. Some knowledge of html is desired but is not a requirement. You should consider if you have the time to read/review all lengths and styles of fiction prior to applying. Please send resume to johnskeedvabbq@yahoo.com.
WSS3 is our personal favorite for the second half of this wonderful season of Farscape. I do admit I may have cried more at the 'series finale' advert than I did over the tag. This is the first ep that has tantilized me beyond ability to resist, and we may risk complete meltdown to tranny this one. *snivel* Hey, that wasn't NYPD Blue in John's head, was it?
Still in progress, Part 18 went up at Kansas on March 7, 2003. This story, without doubt, is going into Ally's Best of 2003. If the author manages to finish it before December 31st that is. Not that we're complaining (the BBQ complain? Heaven forfend!), we'd kinda like to keep reading this for the rest of our natural lives.
Short, pretty fic, set during S1, especially nice for those avoiding potential spoiler fic until after next Friday.
Hm. Much has been made of Rygel's 3 stomachs; I suppose it has something to do with being on television that not much has been said about what the end product of all that eating is. Man, I think I've become obsessed with Rygel! ... Well, after all. He is a Major HottieTM.
JTDS (Just Too Damn Sad) fic, and you know we love that. But now we want to know the beginning of the story. We know authors are tough, but could anyone read that and survive?
Oh, mama! My pretty boys of Farscape Fic! John and D'Argo in a little bit of authentic guy talk. Characterization absolutely delicious! Love it when D'Argo does his big brother routine. Massive hugs for this wonderful guy moment, ac. Ep filler for WSS:FA.
I'm thinking about a visit to BBQJr as a present to self for my birthday. Check out their new digs, you know, get an eye for how much we can take out of storage… hey, the storage people are driving me nuts! It's like my grandparents decide they're bored with the garden, so they decide to open up a little side business, but the last piece of technology they had direct interaction with was that really cool 3-speed blender. "Has it gone through yet, Mother?" Mother sighs, eyeing the monitor like it's a recalcitrant daughter-in-law. "Not yet, Daddy." (yes, that's right, they call each other Mom and Dad *shiver*) But that's another story. So, I'm looking at cheaptickets.com (yeah, right), and find that I can't fly from Monterey to San Diego without a 'brief' stop-over at Phoenix. Arizona. Immediately I'm thinking, 'What the f-word! I have to fly out of state to get from Monterey to San Diego?' I mean, I'm willing to do a stopover (with only a bit of terrified whining), but Phoenix isn't even on the way to San Diego. It's like... way over there! And then way back! *hmph*
Yes, strange-but-true; apparently, to save a hour driving to San Jose, it's gonna take over 300 dollars and over five hours to fly a few hundred miles. Crapdoodles, baby. Six hours to drive it... about five hours to fly. Stupid, stupid, stupid. So, I'll drive an hour (if the traffic is reasonably sane) to San Jose to fly to San Diego. The flight will be less than 2 hours and just short of $200. Is this crazy? Just to spend a weekend—that they both probably have to work? That, plus, well—I'm petrified to fly. It must be love, if just to see them and get a hug I'd be willing to fly. In an airplane! Oh god.
no fic for you!
Well, not here anyway.
Oddly, or perhaps not so, no fic reccs this time around. Funny story. This page started as a Favorites With Extras menu for Ally 'cause it got virtually impossible to find a story we wanted to reread based on a few characters or story title on a drop down list of literally hundreds of links. We had submenus of submenus of submenus and they still tried to crawl off the screen. Weirdly, once it was up. you guys started popping by—probably because of the navigation link from the transcripts page.
The transcripts page started as a expansion on the 'scripts available at Shrifts strictly as a 'cheat' for the people entertaining us with Chainmale Trivia (it's all about the BBQ don'tcha know). Anyway, somehow Ally became a dedicated public servant, providing, through her own obsessions, stuff that other people also wanted. Neato. However, due to present conditions we hope you're not too disappointed that so much of our time is being eaten by that rabid monster, 'ambition', and we have so little time to read for pleasure. *pout* Luckily, our limited time does not impact the outpouring of actual Farscape Fan Fiction. Hurrah, the Authors!
So. Speaking of fic recs. Heh. Isn't it time someone else did this? Man, I'd love to be able to go to one website and read fics that are complete and someone simply loved, just by clicking on one link. *pout* You guys know that around here is gonna be kinda weird for the foreseeable future due to the whole work/school 14 hour workday, right? Hey, we love coming here too, but even we get tired of seeing that same damn post every day. heh
This is what happens to you when you learn HTML. It's like one of those desert sinkholes in Thunderdome. Fair warning. *g*
FARSCAPE:
Nope. Haven't taken time to read any 'scape fics, although I did note a lot of nice short ones over at Leviathan that we'll be taking a peek at over the weekend, studying be damned. What's going on over at Kansas? No clue. Sorry. Check out the neato links over there on the left for non-comatose fans. *g*
SMALLVILLE:
Links to stories we've read and don't want to lose track of will be posted directly to Ally's Smallville Pics page. So, if you're interested, you can pop by there; be warned however, we may occasionally drool over Michael Rosenbaum on this page, but, you know. Major HottieTM.
We've also been reading Anne Rice's, Memnoch the Devil, a page at a time it seems. We love 'scape fic, but, hey, we admit it. We read other stuff. *ducks*
During class breaks I read text books. Yes. That big a geek. If that 100 percent eludes us, it's not because we haven't been trying. Yet still manage to slip in a bit of leisure reading for fun. Yep, I find I'm reading more Smallville fic than Farscape fic, but the stuff I do read is, well. Remarkable.
Episode addition, set in a lovely null point in the ongoing story. Gorgeous John/Rygel moment. When Ryg gets his throne back, the people won't know how lucky they really are.
This one ties my heart in knots. And maybe I'm a little too influenced by authors I love, because now I have to see Goonies. And to think I'd successfully avoided that one till now. *sigh*
oh my.
Look Out! You're Dangerous Lex. You know how to get what you want and can get the job done.
Punk. Okay? Haven't read it yet, but... Punk, man!
So far we're doing remarkably well, although getting a bit overstimulated by long days. Stepped out to see Bringing Down The House just to see Michael Rosenbaum in an itty bitty part, as after two weeks in release, it's becoming less likely that I'll ever get to see Poolhall Junkies *pout*. House was funny in that *God, how embarrassing* kind of way and although MR only had a tiny little part, he was lovely in it, got to flaunt his stuff once and took a nice pratfall for a finale, so it was entirely worth it. *g*
For those who think paying over two dollars a gallon for gas, and never being able to afford a home (where the median price is well over half a million dollars in some areas) is good reason to stay away from California... March 8th; the final days of winter across the United States, and it's balmy and warm, around, oh... sixty-three degrees, bright blue sky, welcoming sun. Simply a beautiful day. Yeah. We got it tough.
