Ally's a total KodiakkeMax addict now. Had to add this before we could nip back into bed with our heating pad.

Who knew there'd we so much fog in April. Just remembered I have things to do. New story for The Aeryn Years, an afterword for Betan's, Should've Brought A Bag, which I still need to format and upload to the archive. Maybe by tomorrow the fog will have completely lifted.

aeryncrichton posts her epic response to atana's 'Last Scene Standing' Challenge.

Snared some time to read today. Awesome fic alert: The Right Brain's, UFO. Link's to part 1, 2 & 3 down the page a bit. Miss it at your peril. Also being tortured by wiscaper's DWTB epilogue. Giggly with anticipation that the next parts would be up when we got home, and... nada. *pout* Up side. Get to read ac's epic Last Seen Standing tomorrow. *bbq does a brief happy dance, still feeling a tad crappy for the full on version*

Those having not read Maayan's '11th Hour' and 'Perspective Immobility', well, is there anyone out there? Links to the story posts at Divine Collective and those at the Dominion Bulletin Board provided for those who like to give feedback on the board.

I'm so depressed I could cry. Probably will. But later. Reading some awesome storytelling... but it's all so... so sad! imloco, BLOWS me away (can't post the title, that'd spoil it), orchid makes me WEEP! Sheesh. There is much in life that is unfair. Sad fic is one'a them! All this and The Right Brain goes SOLO!

"UFO" by therightbrain ( pd 4/25/02 )

As always, til late tomorrow evening anyway, watch out for S3 story spoiler warnings before reading anything!

Special thanks to orchid for pointing out loco's story. Posted yesterday, already buried deep into the fourth page in by today. Oh, and orchid's "Pocket Full of Posies" at the BB as well. Love that feedback!

Okay now, many times, with feeling; and it's got to, got to... be in that agonizingly soulful Otis Redding voice. Ready?
Try a Little Tenderness

oh, she may be weary...

and young girls, they do get weary

wearing that same old shaggy dress...

but when she gets weary

try a little tenderness

You know she's waiting

just... anticipating

the thing that she'll never

never

never

never possess

but while she's there waiting... without them

try... a little tenderness

that's all you got to do

it's not just sentimental

she has her grieves and cares...

but the soft words they are spoke so gentle

it makes it easier

easier to bear

You wont regret it

young girls they don't forget it

love is their whole happiness

but it's all so easy

all you got to do is try

try a little...

tenderness

all you gotta do is... love her

squeeze her

don't tease her

never leave her

try a little tenderness

This song, as recorded by Otis Redding, can be heard in that 80's classic film, "Pretty In Pink". John Cryer. What a hottie. What's he up to, hm?

Do not despair. The BBQ estimates another 2.5 days before a flood of new fic drowns us all!

G'night.

Some scattered thoughts before we hit the hay, first the fic:
New at TGUT:

"The Trouble With Hokas" by UCSBDad
Anyone seen Ally's sense of whimsy?

New at SciFi BB:

Golden Apples - Part 15 by BetanSurvey ( pd 4/23/02 )

Excellent! Thanks, Betan.

Oh, and been meaning to add this to the sidebar, need a MUCH smaller graphic. *g* The thing makes Ally drool. Gorgeous site, some great... well, great bits of EVERYTHING. Here's a link. Check it out, some great info to be had.
Resource site for writers:

ScapeRoute

Quick question. Is "loco for loco" anything at all like "koo koo for coco puffs"?

New fic alert at Leviathan. Haven't tasted fully, but a brief look reveals promising new author.
New At Leviathan:

To Say Goodbye Again, by Deneba

Divergence, by Deneba

And oh, man, yes. Very sweet. Ally repeats the authors name 10 times to seal in the frelling memory. Spoilers for S3 in both. Virgin eyes should hold off til late Friday.

Is it correct to say 'new' author when I've just not read anything by the author before? Hm. Eh. G'night.

Maayan sneaks one in under the radar just as Ally has to make a break for it. Enjoy. I'll have to... later
New at Divine Collective:

I believe that Crais is still out there. Crais and Talyn, s'matter of fact. Heck, doesn't everyone? After all, the BBQ's rule about death in Farscape, "If we don't see a steaming headless corpse... not dead", was not met in this case. Amongst those clinging to hope, valleyforge-- who came up with a Top 18 reasons CRAIS IS STILL ALIVE list. #15 seems completely plausible to us. *g*

Few days ago, popped over to Leviathan-- enjoyed a few short vignettes. Favorites were among the 'character study' variety. Promptly forgot to add links. Thanks to suela for the *subtle* reminder. *g*
New at Leviathan:

"On The Naming Of Names" by cofax

"STORMRUNNER", by KodiakkeMax

Ended up with 'way' too much time on my hands yesterday. Kept doing quizzes. Apparently, not only am I Ferris Bueller, I'd without doubt; survive a Horror Movie. I'm also tactful beyond belief, and yes-- I'd be 'Ahnuld', Eva (trust me, I'm not that nice), the sleazy guy in the Breakfast Club (geez), and my absolute fav; Oz. We have complete trust and faith in these quiz things *snerk*, but we seriously doubt that if we 'had' a sidekick, it'd be some bubbly 'yes' girl (hafta kill that). Also, newsflash; NOT a ho (whew).

Too much fun.

Gotta run, more time needs wasting!

New At Ally's Archive: "Are We Having Fun Yet?" by orchidcactus

Ally's Note:

Rating and Setting: Set after Fractures, but before the final four in the States. I'll give this one a slightly stronger PG13; most of it is pretty tame.

Notes: In early October I wrote, The Good Times. Although this fic didn't start as a sequel; per-se, some of the references will make more sense if 'Are We Having Fun Yet?' is read second.

Additionally: I truly adore critters.

Spoilers: To current viewing in the States.

Excerpt: "... "Traveling? We're going on a trip? What do the others think about that?" Chiana looked doubtfully at him as she took a sip of the hot liquid. Really she was asking if he had consulted Aeryn. Lately their ex-Peacekeeper had been... a little uptight. She had become all about the mission, focused on her goal, and seemed to take the Human's welfare personally; if Crichton was up to something, she would be a little... uptight when she found out. ..."

( Apr '02 )

Oh, HEY! It's post 3:21, now would be a good time for unspoiled eyes to read Makkiko's, "Not Dead". Longish for a vignette, but definitely in the 'mourning' category. Oy. More pain.

The BBQ is most definitely not fic blind, we see... stuff going on out there, stuff we'd like to recc, or at least, consider recc'ing. But. And it's a big one, When we can't be certain when the story will end... can't be certain there will be an ending(s). And, most importantly, not certain at all that 'rockyness' and 'fallingapartness'; that unsteady author impelled- '"what the frell have I gotten myself into"-ness', won't occur before that charmed word, 'finis' appears on the page. We just don't know what to do. Lure people into reading a fic that may possibly NEVER end? Hm.

So. What to do. What to do. For us, we've determined to wait to the end. Read the entire titanic epic, and then determine whether to save to our, "gee, that was pretty darn good" pile. Therefore, if you, you lovely author(s) you, are into an epic the size of North Carolina, and you don't see your links popping up here, that would be why. Probably.

Whilst prowling for new fic, a mostly futile gesture, brain kept flashing on the idea that John is unlocking the secrets on his own, as he seems to be in WiSC. But we keep seeing that scene: John's features, frozen, eyes on the holo-display writing tiny symbols on his hand, just before Ko-Kura pops by with his wonderous remark, "You're doing it!" Concentration shattered he blinks, looks down, sees his hand. But before that, when he's writing, without looking at what he's doing (how many of us do that, especially when writing complex mathematical formula?). It all looks so *snerk* automatic *snerk*. John's unconscious mind taking over for his conscious mind. Gee. What could be in John's unconscious mind that could do that? Boy genius mechanics? That tiny part of Stark's message? Harvey? Gives us shivers. Can't wait to see if/when anything comes of it.

Using time in the wee hours fore the shops open to click through all the blogs listed on Maayan's site. Jessica Walker. Hm. Bit a nut, eh? LOL -- Also obsessively watching Buffy and Angel, maybe I should pop by more often. Cackled enormously at the sidebar. And, oh god, more blogs... AHHHH!

Popped by MustangSally's. Just had to. It's the nick. Lured into a quiz. Geez. Said I was a chick, but still got this?

Who's Your 80s Movie Icon Alter-Ego? Find out @ She's Crafty

"Which 'Action Star' am I?" Hm... worried I'll be Ahnuld, but just gotta. Made me giggle.

ROFL! Well... hm.

That was too much fun, especially what with no new fic to read. *pout*

Gotta run, ta! ;)

Later. Much. Much. Later.

Gotta admit, Ally's a reader. Honest to god reader. Not a every fifth word reader, or every third. Every. Frelling. Word. The experience is so much richer when you absorb every word. Roll every word inside your brain. Yum. If I can't read 'all' the words, likely, not gonna read any of them. KodiakkeMax ROCKS! This is the why of AU fic. Not so J/A can get married and have babies. Not so D'Argo can kick ass and become 'Ruler of all Hyneria' --- oops, wrong kingdom --- not so Chi can get it on with John... well, I take that back. AU rocks 'cause the author does what he/she likes, makes the story their own and weaves it all into an in-frelling-credible tale. Where's my doggie bag!? </rant>

Okay, too much fun to be had out there in blogland. Focus! Ahem, is now a good time to bitch about black font on dark gray background, tan font on black? Some of us LOVE our eyes.

   Friday, April 19, 2002

Over at Divine Collective, Maayan reposts a lyrical summary slash analysis of Wolf In Sheeps Clothing. Most of the time I think no one understands John better than Maayan. It's a joy to read.

The view from here, over at Orchid's indeed changes frequently. I'm 'not' having flashbacks. For that I am very grateful. Orchid forgoes chiming in with her own dissection of Wolf. We'll be there tomorrow to see what she has to say on it. What she does say is that KodiakkeMax's Ghosts, Part 2, well... ROCKS! Love Suela's brief analysis on the 'why' of the Rockage, analysis are in the comments on Orchid's comments and I have no way of linking to that, you'll have to check it out over there.

The BBQ refuses, still, to think of herself as a 'shipper', but damn. They frell with you, don't they?

I was right, the blogger thing is gonna give us ahlot more time to read and stuff. Love the blogs, they make me think when I'd rather just sit slack-jawed and mutter, "wow..."

Thanks to awesome feedback by D, the page, I'm told, now looks correct for NetPositive folks. How many of ya are out there? {{{{D!}}}}

Okay. Farscape Ally goes interactive. Manual blog archived, if you need the links, you'll find it below and to the left, March 1 - April 18, 2002.

This should be fun!

Oh yeah! Life is good
New at Leviathan:
"In the Company of Ghosts, Part 2: Escape Velocity" - by Kodiakkmax
Pardon, whilst I go read.

Oops, and for those who missed it... tsk: "In the Company of Ghosts, Part 1: The Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies" - by Kodiakkmax.

Maayan's disseration on the 'norm' of her life re reaction to spoilers... Okay, struggled with this one for a while, I do have an annoying way of seeing different sides, different shades, different aspects of any given situation... grrr... still tried to work the whole, "but, but, but, what you are used to dictates the level of fairness vs. unfairness in your responses!"

Gotta admit, that one sounded silly to me, and I'm a big one for avoiding spoilers to, uh, not be spoiled. For Ally, it's all about seeing it for myself, not having what I'm experiencing tainted by the 'spin' of an earlier... experiencer. Don't get me wrong, I don't hold it against anyone (much) that they, uh... experienced something before me. I just choose not to *geez* experience anything prematurely. So I moderate my behavior accordingly. I certainly do not, and would never ask anyone else to moderate theirs, so long as they were doing no legitimate harm. (is this making any kind of sense?)

So, now I'm back onto, uh, whatever point I was going for... OH!

Yeah, it's kind of silly, the whole wishing someone and their progeny and ancestors into the deepest pits of hell for spoiling a teevee show. I'm thinkin', if I wanna we peeved about it, okay. So long as I don't harm others while I'm doing it. Rudeness isn't it's own excuse. *sigh* The same way perpetuating one evil act to stop another isn't.

Now... where was I? Oh, indeed, some new stuff over at Leviathan. But oops, I'm late for work and I gotta GO!

   Wednesday, April 17, 2002

Okay. Something is completely hosed, and I'm too tired to figure out what. We'll save this one for tomorrow. Night, all.

And.. uh, by 'all', I mean "'Night, Orchid!'

Hugs, and big shiney heaps 'o yotz

Teri

Which reminds me. A tiny bit of fiddling and Ally is just about ready to convert Farscape Ally to full weblog capability, including comments. Yes. I know. It's horribly addictive. And standing right over there in the corner... is the person responsible.

After numerous instances of vociferous... pestering... the Arctic Flower has convinced the BBQ to do this. Simply for this reason: So she can insert snarky comments into snarky comments made by the webstress in the currently horribly underefficient, Farscape Ally. LOL.

Of course, commenting will also enable readers to provide feedback on story links provided. Hm. This could get interesting.

Ally's Reading List needed it's own frelling page! Hope it works. It's late and we are tired. Gonna take a quick look over at Redbeards and Leviathan then hit the hay.

Something new up over there at Orchid's (speak of the, ahem... nevermind) *g*

New at Orchid's: ARE WE HAVING FUN YET? - by orchidcactus

Well, If I do it now, I'll probably mess it up. So, guess I'll wait til tomorrow or Friday, or Saturday. Or....

First hurdle: blogback isn't accepting new members. Referred to... blogspot reference list, hopefully it'll be of some assistance and I'll be able to dig something up.

What's even cooler, is I can still 'format' my entries with notetab, cut/paste the entry to the blog editor, and hit... post & publish... and there ya go.

We're havin' fun now!

Oh! And for those on geocities thinking 'cool'. Unless you have one of their 'premium packages', Geocities is no longer supporting ftp protocols. So, no premium services... no blog. Sucks. I know.

I can tell already that it's gonna be way difficult to keep this down to one entry a day. :)

Well, although I'm a big one for getting things done NOW, Damn it! I've decided not to push this along. Just gonna keep the blog for myself and document my trials and tribulations toward getting Farscape Ally converted over as full weblog functional. I have to admit, while I was going to make a big thing out of doing this 'just' for orchid, the actual functions of daily blogging are massively simplified by blogging software (blogger.com primarily). So, even if we can't get the remote comments figured out, we will definitely be switching over to blog upload, enabling the whole ftp a 'single entry' to the blog, rather than uploading the entire frelling thing every day. So...

  • step 1. - get a blogger code (done; nicely provided by blogger.com)

  • step 2. - get remote commenting capability from yet another provider. Checking out the possibilities at blogback/ but haven't heard... well, back from him yet.

  • step 3 - While waiting on step 2, create a separate page for Ally's Reading List. ficpics.html will officially become the BBQ's blog *sigh*.

  • step 4 - Once remote commenting is enabled; archive all manual blog entries to date and upload the blog template at ficpics.html (rather than ficpicsblog.html)

That should do it. Hopefully won't take TOO long; 'cause in the meantime we're still gonna be doin' the manual daily blog entries... as long as there's 'something' to say.

later.

   Tuesday, April 16, 2002

Now, all we gotta do is figure out the whole 'remote commenting' thing. Make orchid grin. Probably go through 'blogback' IF I can figure it out. Took an hour to figure out the damn ftp thing. So, URL: blogback.

How much do we love Notetab? Bunches! Too bad no spell check. We don't 'love' workin' without a net. Ah well. We need something new called "Typo-Check" anyway. Gotta thank M for proofing IYYY tranny again, Thanks!

Special request to add a pic of the 'JohnsKeedva BBQ Sauce' jar -- to scale; complete. Sorta. Best I could do for now, tiny cut out of pic sent in care package. Gives kind of an idea, but we really want to do a 'feature presentation' of the jar. Just didn't think of it while we were doin' care package pic. For a look, just click, or scroll down a bit, it's in the purple side-bar.

OMG! Care packages AWAY!! Finally. Well. What to do. What to do...
*bamfg*
